Impaling the Seax

Find and Speak with Goodwin: Goodwin is located in an alehouse north of Wincestre, near the market. Speak with him; your dialogue choices do not affect the outcome.

Attend Bishop Ealhferth’s Funeral: The funeral is held north of Saint Peter’s Church in northwest Wincestre. Speak with attendees like Wemba and Harriet. Harriet, the bishop’s sister, will eventually have guards attack you. Defeat them, then speak with Harriet in the chapel to learn Ealhferth is alive.

Find and Assassinate The Seax: Go to the Witan Hall, west of The Old Minster in central Wincestre. Climb the scaffolding on the western side and enter through an open window. Inside, you'll find four Banneret enemies. Ealhferth is one of them. If you have the Advanced Assassination skill, you can assassinate him immediately. Otherwise, wait for him to move closer to Aelfred. If you fail the initial assassination attempt, kite Ealhferth and the other Bannerets away from civilians before finishing him off.

Find the Order’s Temple: After Ealhferth’s death, use the key he gave you to find the Order’s Temple entrance on the southwestern side of the Bishop’s Residence. Navigate the linear path, using the key to open a locked door. Inspect the items in the first room, including a note. To reach the second room, move the blockade, then retrieve a fire pot from beneath a hole in the wall to your southeast. Slide under the hole with the fire pot, place it by the barricade, and shoot it to create an explosion.

Escape Wincestre: On the other side of the barricade, you’ll find scrolls and a minor treasure chest. Realizing Harriet lied, return to Aelfred at The Old Minster. After a cutscene, escape the city by running out until the quest updates.
