Learn how to complete the Hel's Well mystery in Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Asgard region. Choose to fight or persuade Motull to finish the quest.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
You'll start by speaking with a man named Motull. You'll have two dialogue options: "Your arrogance will be bought with blood." or "There is nothing for you in Helheim."
  2. 2
If you choose the first option, you'll have to fight Motull. If you want to avoid the fight, choose the second option to persuade him.

Fighting Motull:

If you decide to fight Motull, don't worry, he's not too tough. He fights similarly to a Woe-Bringer enemy. Initially, he'll use a large two-handed axe, swinging it slowly and predictably. You can parry most of his attacks, but be careful of the ones that glow red before he swings – those can't be parried.

Around the 50% health mark, Motull will throw his axe at you. You'll need to dodge or roll away from this attack. After this, he'll switch to wielding two hammers, and his attacks will become much faster. He often chains these hammer attacks together, and sometimes finishes with a surprise kick, so stay alert!

Your best bet is to either parry or block if you're quick enough, or dodge to the side to flank him and get some hits in. He doesn't have a lot of health, so you should be able to defeat him fairly quickly.

After the Fight:

  1. Once you've defeated Motull, you'll need to revive him.
  2. After reviving him, he'll accept his fate, and this will complete the Hel's Well mystery.
Tips
  • If you want to avoid the fight entirely, choose the dialogue option "There is nothing for you in Helheim."
  • Motull's axe throw at around 50% health is telegraphed, so be ready to dodge.
  • His hammer attacks are faster, so focus on dodging and flanking rather than trying to parry everything.
