The Ritual of the Berserker

Need help with The Ritual of the Berserker quest in Assassin's Creed Valhalla? Find Nightshade at Edmund's Hope and prepare to fist-fight a bear!

Alright, so you've got a quest from Bjorn to grab some Nightshade for his special berserker brew. He tells you to check out church graveyards in East Anglia, and he's not wrong! The closest spot is a place called Edmund's Hope, which is just west of Bjorn's cave. Head there and make your way to the graveyard on the east side of the church. You'll see a quest marker pop up when you get close, pointing you right to the Nightshade. Just interact with it to grab it.

Once you've got the Nightshade, Bjorn wants to meet up at the Gallows Tree, which is to the southwest. Ride on over there.

When you get to the Gallows Tree, a cutscene will play where Eivor takes a swig of that berserker brew. After the scene, get ready, because you've got to fight a bear... with your bare fists! This can be pretty tough, especially if you're a bit underleveled or just not expecting it. The key here is to **dodge and roll** away from everything the bear throws at you. Pay extra attention to any attacks that have a red rune aura around them – those are the ones you absolutely need to avoid.

If you've picked up the Brush with Death skill (it's on The Way of the Raven skill tree), this fight will be way easier. It slows down time when you dodge at the last second, giving you a perfect window to land a few hits. Even without it, just focus on dodging and then quickly getting in a few punches when the bear finishes an attack. Don't get greedy!

After you've taken down the bear, just chat with Bjorn to wrap up the quest. Easy peasy!
