A Rivalry for the Ages

Follow our guide to complete the 'A Rivalry for the Ages' quest in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Learn how to start it, retrieve the statue from Maximilian, and return it to Octavian.

Alright, so you've built the Museum in Ravensthorpe? Awesome! That means you can grab the 'A Rivalry for the Ages' quest from Octavian. He's got a bit of a problem – some guy named Maximilian swiped a Roman legionnaire statue from him. Maximilian's hanging out in Lunden, so that's where we're headed next. His shop is right in the middle of the city, smack dab in front of the amphitheater entrance.

When you get to Lunden, look for Maximilian chilling outside his shop. Chat him up and tell him why you're there. He's not exactly thrilled about giving the statue back, but don't worry, you've got a few options:

• Option 1: Sweet Talk him - If you've got Charisma Level 5, you can try to convince him to just hand it over. Easy peasy if you've got the skill.
• Option 2: Pay Up - If talking isn't your style or you don't have the Charisma, you can buy the statue for 130 silver. It's a bit of coin, but it gets the job done.
• Option 3: The Sneaky Route - If you're short on silver or Charisma, you can tell Maximilian you'll be back for it. This basically sets you up to steal the statue.

If you go with Option 3, here's the plan: head to the corner south of Maximilian's shop. You'll find a kid there. You can hire this kid to distract Maximilian for you, which costs a small fee of 65 silver. Once you've paid the kid, put on your cloak and wait for them to do their thing. They'll lure Maximilian around the corner, giving you the perfect window to snag his key from the table by his front door. Then, just slip into the house and grab the statue from the north end of the room. Boom, statue acquired!

No matter which way you choose to get the statue, your final step is to head back to Ravensthorpe and return it to Octavian. Quest complete!
