Skills: A Sohei gains Lore (Nature) as a class skill.

Monastic Mount: A Sohei gains a horse animal companion.

Devoted Guardian: A Sohei receives a bonus to initiative rolls equal to half her class level. At 20th level, your initiative roll is an automatic 20.

Flurry of Blows (Sohei): A Sohei can use Flurry of Blows with quarterstaffs and weapons that she is trained in. A Sohei can use Flurry of Blows while wearing light armour but only with trained weapons, not with quarterstaffs.

Bonus Feat (Sohei): Besides the normal Monk bonus feats, a Sohei may select any mounted combat feats.

Ki Strike (Sohei): A Sohei can use Ki Strike with weapons that she is trained in.

Ki Weapon: At 4th level, as a swift action, a Sohei may spend 1 point from her ki pool to grant her weapon a +1 enhancement bonus to attack and damage rolls until the end of her next turn. This bonus increases by +1 for every four additional levels (max +5 at 20th level).

Weapon Training: At 6th level, a Sohei can take weapon training in one of the following groups: bows, crossbows, monk weapons, polearms, spears or thrown weapons. She receives additional training at 12th level and 18th level.

Tips
  • Focus on feats that enhance mounted combat to maximize the Sohei's potential.
  • Utilize the Ki Pool for Ki Weapon to boost your damage output significantly, especially at higher levels.
  • Consider the Weapon Training group carefully to complement your chosen fighting style.
