Fortress Keys Walkthrough

Complete Crimson Desert's 150th main mission, Fortress Keys. Defeat Thunder Tank and Storm Crusher using Nature's Snare to throw back projectiles.

Fortress Keys is the 150th main mission in Crimson Desert, found in Deleysia within the Strange Manor. It is part of Chapter 11 – Truth and Reality, under the sub-chapter Brave New World. You must have finished the previous main quest, Strange Manor, to begin. There is no direct reward for completing the quest itself, but each of the three quest bosses drops one Artifact. The quest requires you to find three keys mentioned by a mysterious man to reach his location.

After entering the room with the transporter in the Strange Manor quest, this new quest begins automatically. You will use the transporter to visit three fortresses. In each fortress, you must defeat all enemies until the area counter reaches 0% and then defeat the boss. After liberating the fortress, the key can be collected from a cube marked with a purple icon on the minimap. This is one of the longest and most difficult quests in the game.

IMPORTANT:

  • It is highly recommended to have the green skill “Nature’s Snare” at Level 2 (Nature’s Retribution). This skill allows you to throw back projectiles at the two tank bosses. If you do not have it unlocked, you can reset your skills or spend time acquiring more Artifacts, for example, through Challenges.
  • Teleporting to Valvegard Garrison first is advised, as this area is surrounded by a blue barrier and can only be reached via the transporter. The other two areas do not have a barrier and can be reached on foot. If you go to the Aeronautical Research Base first, you may need to backtrack through Strange Manor to access the transporter again.

To begin, look down at the middle part of the transporter and interact with it. Press / to rotate to the red symbol “Valvegard Garrison” and press / to teleport.

Retrieve the key from Valvegard Garrison

Valvegard Garrison is the objective furthest west and is surrounded by a blue barrier, requiring teleportation from Strange Manor. Clear all enemies until the counter reaches 0% and defeat the boss “Thunder Tank”. After liberating the fortress, you can collect the key from the glowing crate marked by a purple icon on the minimap.

Thunder Tank Boss:

Thunder Tank is the boss in Valvegard Garrison. It is an electric tank with one health bar. Its attacks depend on your proximity: driving into you at close range (massive damage), shooting explosive projectiles at mid-range, and firing missile barrages at long range. The easiest method to defeat it is by using “Nature’s Snare” (Level 2 – Nature’s Retribution) to throw back its projectiles. Stay far away to trigger its rocket attacks, then use Nature’s Retribution to catch and throw rockets back. This can take 6-10 minutes. You will need to charge at least two parts of the Spirit Gauge ( + ) then rotate the Right Stick to activate Nature’s Retribution, catch rockets, and press to throw them back. After dealing some damage, the top part of the tank falls off, revealing a weak spot. However, climbing and stabbing this weak spot can be buggy and may result in instant death. Continue using the projectile-throwing method. After defeating the boss and all enemies in the fortress, you can collect the key from the block marked by a purple icon on the minimap.

Retrieve the key from the Aeronautical Research Base

The Aeronautical Research Base is the objective furthest south-east. You can reach it by taking the transporter from the previous fortress and skydiving, or by walking into the fortress. Clear all enemies until the counter reaches 0% and defeat the boss “Storm Crusher”. After liberating the fortress, you can grab the key from the glowing crate marked by a purple icon on the minimap.

Storm Crusher Boss:

Storm Crusher is the boss in Aeronautical Research Base. It is a fire tank with one health bar. Its attacks are similar to Thunder Tank: driving into you at close range, shooting explosive projectiles at mid-range, and firing missile barrages at long range.

Tips
  • The skill “Nature’s Snare” (Level 2 – Nature’s Retribution) is crucial for easily defeating both Thunder Tank and Storm Crusher by reflecting their projectiles.
  • Valvegard Garrison must be reached by teleporting first due to its surrounding blue barrier.
  • Ensure all enemies within a fortress are defeated before or after the boss to trigger the liberation cutscene and access the key.
  • None from quest completion.
  • 1 Artifact from each of the 3 quest bosses.
