Crimson Desert offers a deep dye and customization system, letting you personalize armor, weapons, and mounts. This guide covers finding, crafting, and applying dyes to express your unique style across Pywel.
The customization system rewards exploration. Dye recipes are found in hidden locations, sold by vendors, or discovered through experimentation at Cauldron stations. Each region offers a unique color palette at local Dyehouses, encouraging travel. Combined with equipment repair levels, customization allows for significant visual distinction.
How the Dye System Works
To use dyes, first acquire them through purchase, crafting, or discovery. Use the dye item from your inventory to permanently learn the color, adding it to your palette at any compatible Dyehouse. This learned color can then be applied to equipment without needing the dye item again.
Visit any Dyehouse NPC in towns to apply learned dyes. The interface shows your equipment and available colors. Select equipment, choose a color, and confirm. Dyes are applied instantly with no extra cost. You can re-dye equipment freely with any learned colors.
Regional Dyehouses vs. Oliver's Camp Dyehouse
Standard Dyehouses in towns only allow applying dyes associated with that region's color palette. For example, Hernand's Dyehouse offers red-toned dyes.
Oliver's Dyehouse at your Greymane Camp removes regional restrictions, allowing any learned dye color to be applied. Oliver also sells basic and rotating rare dyes.
All Available Dye Color Families
Dyes are organized into families, each unlocking about twenty hues. Primary families include Red (Hernand), Blue (coastal), Yellow (plains), Green (woodlands), White, and Black.
Special categories include Purple (highlands), Orange, and Pink. Brown and Tan offer earth tones. The most coveted are Metallic Gold, Metallic Silver, and Iridescent dyes.
How to Craft Dyes at Cauldrons
Crafting dyes requires a Cauldron station, specific flower ingredients, and insect components. Cauldrons are distinct from cooking pots.
