Master combat in Hitman World of Assassination. Learn about Quick Time Events, subduing from cover, garroting, blunt and bladed weapons, and more.

This section details various combat mechanics and weapon interactions in Hitman World of Assassination.

On Guards and certain Civilians

When engaging guards or certain civilians, you may enter a Quick Time Event (QTE). During a QTE, you have a few seconds to press a face button before taking damage. Successfully pressing the buttons completes the fight. Once a fight begins, it cannot be backed out of and must be completed or you will die.

From Behind Cover

You can subdue an NPC by pulling them over cover, such as a crate. Crouch against the cover to bring up the subdue prompt. You can also grab an NPC as they walk past cover you are using, like the edge of a door. For this to work without being seen and losing Silent Assassin, the NPC must approach in a straight line. If they approach at an angle when using wall ends or crates for cover, you may be spotted during the grab.

On Stairs

When on stairs, you will knock out an NPC regardless of their orientation. After they are knocked out, you have the option to break their neck to kill them.

Garroting

Approaching an NPC from behind with the Fiber Wire allows you to garrote them. This is the quietest method of killing, and you can automatically drag the body away afterward.

Blunt Object

Carrying a non-bladed object, like a Wrench, allows you to pacify someone by hitting them over the head. Knocking someone out from behind with a blunt object is quieter than subduing them, making it ideal for quiet knockouts.

Bladed Objects

Carrying a bladed object enables a quick kill. Common bladed objects include: Kitchen Knife, Scissors, Cleaver, and Screwdriver.

Large Weapons

Some bladed weapons are too large to be holstered and will be dropped if you attempt to store them. These include: Axe, Fire Axe, Battle Axe, Saber, and Hatchet.

Threatening and Non-Threatening

Many of the aforementioned bladed weapons are considered threatening.
