Master Hitman World of Assassination by learning to observe NPC patterns, utilize conversations for Mission Stories and Intel, and employ distractions like Coins effectively.

This section of the guide covers essential mechanics for success in Hitman World of Assassination, focusing on observation, utilizing in-game information, and employing distractions.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Combat and Alert States: Understand the difference between Combat and Hunted states. If you leave an area during Combat, it may change to Hunted as enemies search for you.
  2. 2
Silent Assassin Meter: Located on the right side of the Mini-Map, this meter indicates your Silent Assassin rating. Green means you have it, red means you've lost it.
  3. 3
    Restoring Silent Assassin Rating:
  4. 4
If seen by a camera without alerting guards, shooting the Recorder can restore the rating.
  5. 5
If a Target sees you commit an illegal act, killing them before they alert others can restore the rating.
  6. 6
Observing Your Surroundings: NPCs (Guards, Civilians, Targets) move in specific patterns. It is crucial to observe these patterns to succeed. Take your time on your first playthrough to understand these movements.
  7. 7
    Conversations, Mission Stories, and Intel:
  8. 8
Listen to conversations to uncover important information that can reveal Mission Stories, which provide ways to take down Targets.
  9. 9
Not all conversations lead to Mission Stories but can offer additional details about the environment and characters.
  10. 10
Initiating a dialogue can sometimes cause NPCs to break their patrol patterns or move into more favorable positions. Be mindful that some conversations might make objectives harder.
  11. 11
Collect Intel by picking up important items or examining significant objects.
  12. 12
Mission Stories and Intel can be reviewed in the Briefing Menu. Certain Challenges require specific Mission Stories to be completed in a particular way. You can track Mission Stories for guidance.
  13. 13
    Distractions and Objects:
  14. 14
Distractions are vital for manipulating NPC positions, allowing you to move past, subdue, or eliminate them.
  15. 15
Coins: You start with three Coins and can find more. Tossing a Coin attracts an NPC to its location. They will pick it up and then resume their routine.
  16. 16
To throw a Coin or object, select it, hold the Aim Button, and use the Throw Button.
  17. 17
You can also place a Coin on the ground (not drop it). NPCs who see it will walk over to pick it up, creating a distraction.
Tips
  • The North indicator on the Mini-Map can be turned on, but it's recommended to leave it off. In Hitman, 'north' can vary on each map, unlike most games where it consistently points upwards.
  • You can retrieve a Coin or other thrown object if you subdue or kill the NPC who picked it up.
