How to Recruit Karlach in Baldur's Gate 3

Find Karlach: Head north from the Nautiloid crash site to Emerald Grove Environs. Go west, cross a bridge to the Blighted Village. Exit north, cross another bridge (jump the gap), turn east at the fork. Defeat hyenas (and possibly gnolls). Follow the bridge to the northeast, then head south from the Toll House. Look for a ladder down to a path, follow the blood to find Karlach across a log at approximately (x=110, y=500).

Recruit Karlach (without Wyll): Speak to Karlach. Choose dialogue options that are not hostile. She will reveal the false paladins at the Toll House and ask for your help. Agree to help her kill them. If your party is full, she will go to camp; otherwise, she joins your party. This starts the quest 'Hunt the Devil'.

Recruit Karlach (with Wyll): If Wyll is in your party, he will confront Karlach. The tadpole will intervene, creating a mental connection. Encourage Wyll to believe Karlach's innocence (e.g., "Gods, you're stubborn. Karlach’s not a devil, and you know it." or "You saw her thoughts. She poses no danger to the Sword Coast."). Wyll will stand down without a check, and your party will approve.

Complete 'Hunt the Devil': You have two main options:

• Kill the Paladins: Go to the Toll House and confront Anders and the paladins. You can pick a [!Paladin] class option, pass an [Insight 10] check, or use [Detect Thoughts 11] to expose them. Fight and defeat them. You can do this with or without Karlach.

Kill Karlach (Not Recommended for Recruitment): If you choose to fight Karlach, initiate combat. She has around 30 HP and low AC but hits hard. Defeat her and loot Karlach’s Head. Bring it to Anders at the Toll House to complete the quest.

Side with Paladins (if Karlach is recruited): If you recruited Karlach and then sided with the paladins at the Toll House, you will fight an enemy with Karlach out of your party.
