• Armor Class (AC): 19
• Attacks: Cruel Sting (1d8+3 Slashing, 1d6 Psychic, +1d4 Poison if Restrained), Moonlantern (1d6 Bludgeoning)
• Abilities: Improved Critical Hit (19-20), Multi-attack (on wounded targets), Ensnaring Strands (free cast, can Enweb targets), Spindleweb Fanaticism (Kar'niss and allies deal +1d6 Psychic damage and move +3m), Sanctuary (at half HP, makes him untargetable but breaks when he attacks or takes AoE damage).
• Resistances: None
• Vulnerabilities: Sunlight Sensitivity (disadvantage on vision-based rolls in sunlight). Can be affected by Daylight spell.

Phases:

1. Initial Combat: Initiate the Harper ambush on the second prompt after Kar'niss kills a goblin for surprise. If ambush fails or is skipped, Kar'niss and goblins surprise attack you.
2. Mid-Fight: Kar'niss uses Sanctuary around half HP. This makes him untargetable but breaks if he attacks or takes AoE damage.

Strategy:

• Ambush Timing: Give the signal for the Harper ambush on the second prompt after Kar'niss kills a goblin to gain surprise.
• Target Priority: Focus all efforts on Kar'niss first.
• Dealing with Wounded Targets: Ensure your party members are at full HP before engaging, as wounded targets trigger Kar'niss's multi-attack. Consider a short/long rest or using potions.
• High AC: Use status effects and conditions that grant advantage or extra dice to attack rolls to overcome Kar'niss's high AC.
• Sunlight Sensitivity: Utilize the Daylight spell (Level 3 Evocation) to trigger Kar'niss's Sunlight Sensitivity, giving him disadvantage on vision-based rolls.
• Sanctuary Spell: If Kar'niss casts Sanctuary, either wait for him to attack next turn to break it, or use AoE spells like Cloud of Daggers to deal damage while he is invulnerable. Alternatively, focus attacks on other enemies during this turn.
• Managing Allies/Enemies: The fight includes several allied and enemy NPCs (Warrior Gronag, Sharp-Eye Lora, Bedi, Kansif, and potentially a Worg Companion). Use them to help draw aggro away from your squishier party members.
• Damage Types: Since Kar'niss has no resistances or vulnerabilities, any damage type is viable.
