Soft-Step Trial Puzzle Guide at the Gauntlet of Shar in BG3

Enter the Gauntlet of Shar and proceed north to the Verge of Shadow room. Solve the puzzle by lowering the Mystic Thuribles in the four adjacent rooms to reveal an invisible wall. Navigate the maze-like wall to the central statue and collect the Umbral Gem. Place this gem in the door to the north.

Continue north. At the intersection, head west to unlock the Gauntlet of Shar waypoint.

In the next room to the north, find the Soft-Step Trial in the first room on the west.

Approach the Sacrificial Bowl with Shadowheart and place your blood in it to begin the trial. The second door on the right (when facing the bowl) contains Thieves' Tools if needed.

Choose the party member with the highest Dexterity to enter the first door on the right.

Sneak past the Shadows. If a Shadow is approaching your current door, wait for it to move away before proceeding. Invisibility spells or scrolls can help but are not required.

Inside the first door on the right, press a button on the wall to open a path forward.

Follow the corridor and press the button on the wall to your right to drop a wall.

You can attempt to sneak to the end and pick the lock on the gate (DC 10 Dexterity check), or backtrack to the wall you opened with the button.

Head through the left doorway from the opened wall and pull the lever. This moves adjacent walls, allowing you to run to a table and pick up the Gate Key.

Use the Gate Key to open the gate at the end of the corridor.

Enter the next room and pick up the Umbral Gem to complete the trial.

Click on the Umbral Transporter where the Gem was and use it to return to the beginning of the trial.
