Are There Any Illithid Power Consequences in BG3?

Upon gaining access to Illithid Tadpoles, you can begin spending them on Illithid Powers. This may immediately cause party drama.

Characters like Astarion may be eager to use these powers. If your character aligns with this, you can gain Astarion’s approval.

Conversely, if you tell Astarion that the powers are exclusively yours and not for sharing, he will disapprove.

Characters like Lae’zel are adamant against using these powers, especially early in the game.

Other companions may have neutral stances. You can speak to each companion individually to understand their feelings and perceived issues with Illithid Powers.

Throughout the game, you can attempt to convince companions to accept your use of these powers or even use them themselves.

In Act 3, you face a significant choice regarding further investment in Illithid Powers. This decision can again lead to relationship changes with your party members.

Individual conversations in Act 3 offer more opportunities to sway companions, potentially resulting in neutral, positive, or negative approvals.

As of the current author's playthrough using an evil Illithid power build, no significant narrative changes have been observed beyond the aforementioned relationship alterations. However, the possibility of narrative changes due to the thousands of ending variations in baldurs gate 3 cannot be entirely ruled out.
