Complete the Troll Trouble: The Curse Of Candlemere quest in pathfinder kingmaker. Learn how to reach Candlemere Island and defeat War Wisps.
Walkthrough
- 1Leave your capital and travel west, then southwest to the landmark A Ford Across the Skunk River.
- 2Cross the Skunk River by heading south, then travel east. The path will veer south, then west, running along lake Tuskwater and lake Candlemere.
- 3Travel southeast across lake Candlemere.
- 4Upon arrival, search east for treasure.
- 5Make your way east along the coast and pass a [Perception 28] check to find a box containing 231 GP, a Robe of Earth, and a Potion of Bull’s Strength.
- 6Loot the boat you arrived in and a nearby barrel for food-stuffs and a Note Wrapped in an Oiled Leather. Reading this note will update or start the quest The Curse of Candlemere.
- 7After reading the note and deciding to explore, head north. Note the path turns east over vines.
- 8Buff with Resist Energy, Communal and Protection from Energy, Communal (electrical damage).
- 9Venture east, then southeast to find another cluster of vines. A War Wisp will ambush you with its “Lightning Form” attack. With buffs, these attacks should be harmless.
- 10Continue east past a third set of vines, then follow the road northwest.
- 11As you round the corner, three more War Wisps will appear (one in front, two behind). Engage them in melee to deter their “Lightning Form” attack.
- 12After defeating this trio, explore off the road to the east. Pass a [Perception 30] check to find an abandoned tent containing a Wand of Crushing Despair.
- 13Return to the road and follow it northwest until you find a campfire off the road to the north.
- 14Past the campfire, you will find another War Wisp. Defeat it and search the campfire for a Torn Damp Page, which continues Morry Focrey’s account.
- 15Northwest of the campfire, find a path through dense thicket. Pass a [Lore (Nature) 24] check or cut through with an [Athletics 27] check.
- 16Climb the hill to ascend the rocky slope to the north. Four War Wisps await you upon arrival. Engage as many as possible in melee to deter their “Lightning Form” attack.
Tips
- The Resist Energy, Communal and Protection from Energy, Communal spells have a long duration, but be prepared to re-apply Protection from Energy, Communal if enemies break through.
- Splitting your party to engage wisps in melee can make them use less damaging attacks.
- If you don't have the spell protections, the War Wisp attacks can be very damaging.
- Passing the [Perception 28] check yields 231 GP, a Robe of Earth, and a Potion of Bull’s Strength.
- Passing the [Perception 30] check yields a Wand of Crushing Despair.
- The Torn Damp Page continues Morry Focrey’s account of his time on Candlemere Island.
