Navigate the Old Sycamore Depths in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Find the Mandible of a Huge Bug, Recipe: Jeweled Rice, and acquire the Headband of Inspired Wisdom +2.
Walkthrough
- 1Spitting Centipedes: Head south from your starting point in the northeastern Old Sycamore Depths. You'll encounter Giant Centipedes and Spitting Giant Centipedes. Spitting Giant Centipedes attack with acid, which is a Ranged Touch Attack, bypassing normal armor bonuses. Check your character sheet (press 'C') for your Touch Armor Class.
- 2Mandible Jewelry: After the centipede fight, ignore the southwest path at the first fork and continue south. At the next fork, go east. Defeat two Giant Centipedes guarding a watery chamber. Loot a submerged sack to the east for Recipe: Jeweled Rice and a submerged pile of rocks further east for a Scorched Fragment of a Necklace. Search the giant bug in the northwestern corner for the Mandibles of a Huge Bug.
- 3Treasure in No-Man’s-Land: With the Mandibles of a Huge Bug, you can return to Gatekeeper Quoggy to claim the Bridge Hoist Part if you didn't acquire it through violence earlier. Head south from Gatekeeper Quoggy to the chamber where Mites sort junk. Take the southwestern passage south to another chamber with Mites.
- 4Mite Encounter: In the Mite chamber, you'll face a Mite Sentinel, two Mites, a Mite Scout, and two Mite Butchers. Loot a sack in the center. You'll find two pens, one holding a live Kobold.
- 5Kobold Choice: Speak to a Mite near the northern cage. You have several dialogue options:
- [Neutral Good]: Save the Kobold.
- 6[Lawful Neutral]: Grant the Kobold a swift death.
- 7[Chaotic Evil], [Dexterity 10]: Participate in the game and win a Gold Ring (approx. 25 GP).
- 8[Attack]: Abruptly end the alliance.
- 9Lowering the Drawbridge: After dealing with the Mites, head south to a raised drawbridge. If you have the Bridge Hoist Part, interact with the bridge to lower it. Cross south to a chamber that shows signs of a recent battle. Loot rocks to the west for a Scorched Fragment of a Necklace and a chest to the east for trinkets and a Greatsword +1.
- 10Acquire the Headband of Inspired Wisdom: Return to Queen Bdaah’s chamber and use the area transition back to the Old Sycamore Depths. Follow the tunnel south past the two forks until you reach a large, verdant cavern with Giant Centipedes (normal and spitting). Kill them. Pass a [Perception 6] check on the northeastern edge to find rocks containing a Token of the Dryad.
- 11Hidden Chamber: From the verdant chamber, go east. Pass a [Perception 10] check to spot rocks and pick up An Ancient Rostland Coin. Return to the passage connecting this small chamber to the larger one to the west. Midway down this tunnel, look for an interactive icon on the northern wall (hold 'Tab'). Interact to squeeze through rocks into a hidden chamber. Loot a chest on the eastern end for a Scroll of Snowball and a Headband of Inspired Wisdom +2.
- 12Slay the Southern Spiders: Return to the verdant chamber and take the southern tunnel. This leads to a chamber filled with corpses and Centipedes. Engage them in the tunnel to bottleneck them, though the two Spitting Centipedes in the back make this less effective. After defeating the bugs, examine the corpses.
