Learn how to complete the 'Death to Queen Bdaah' quest in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Get tips on fighting the Mite Queen and claiming your rewards.

Alright, so you're heading into the Old Sycamore area in Pathfinder: Kingmaker, and you're going to stumble upon a bit of a squabble. It's between the local Kobolds, led by Chief Sootscale over to the east, and the Mites, with Seneschal Vaggik on the west. Apparently, this whole mess is about some relic that the Kobolds either lost or the Mites swiped. The Kobolds retaliated, took the relic back, and apparently, a shaman named Tartuk egged them on.

Now, here's where you come in. You don't have to jump into the fray right away. If you're playing a character with a Neutral alignment (that's Neutral Good, Neutral Evil, Lawful Neutral, Chaotic Neutral, or True Neutral), you can actually use a [Neutral] dialogue option. If you pick this, and you haven't already attacked anyone, both sides will just let you pass. They'll still be at each other's throats, but you won't be directly involved in their little war.

If you decide to throw your lot in with the Kobolds, they'll be friendly towards you. You can head over to Chief Sootscale's underground lair, dealing with a few Giant Spiders along the way. When you talk to him, make sure you select the dialogue option: “I may need the relic to enter the hall, if Tartuk is already there.” This should get Sootscale to hand over the Mites’ Relic. If you then ask him “How can I help you in your war?”, he'll task you with killing the Mite Queen and promise a reward. Accepting this quest kicks off Death to Queen Bdaah! Don't sweat it, though; taking this quest doesn't mean you're locked into fighting the Mites later, nor does it make the Kobolds hostile.

To finish this quest, you just need to defeat Queen Bdaah in her lair. You can either kill her outright or defeat her and let her retreat. If you manage to kill her, you can loot her body for a Scimitar +1 and a Headband of Alluring Charisma +2.

Tips
  • The Mites can be surprisingly tough, especially with their spellcasters and the terrain in their lair. Keep an eye on who's casting what and try to control the battlefield.
  • Focusing your attacks on Queen Bdaah is usually the fastest way to end the fight. If you can deal enough damage quickly, she might even surrender, ending the encounter without a full kill.
