Guide to the Overgrown Pool area in Pathfinder: Kingmaker, covering the Feather Tokens quest, choices, and rewards including Greataxe +1 and Ring of Protection +2.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
From the A Ford Across the Skunk River area, follow the Skunk River north and west to find the Overgrown Pool area.
  2. 2
Head south from the northern end of the map to find Lumberjacks led by Corax confronting a Nixie named Melianse. This triggers the quest Feather Tokens.
  3. 3
Option 1: Remain Neutral. Choose the [Neutral] dialogue option to let the lumberjacks and Melianse fight. Corax and his lumberjacks will likely win. After the fight, you can choose to attack the surviving lumberjacks (a [Chaotic Evil] action) or talk to Corax.
  4. 4
If you choose to attack the lumberjacks, you can loot Corax for a Greataxe +1.
  5. 5
If you choose to remain neutral and not attack, you can talk to Corax later to demand a reward of 45 XP and 400 gold.
  6. 6
Option 2: Use Force. Choose the dialogue option _[Solve the problem with force] “You know what? To hells with it…”_ to attack either Melianse, the lumberjacks, or both. Attacking Melianse or the lumberjacks is [Neutral Evil], while attacking both is [Chaotic Evil]. This option yields experience and Corax's Greataxe +1.
  7. 7
Option 3: Diplomacy. Choose the dialogue option _“What’s going on here?”_ to de-escalate the situation.
  8. 8
Attempt to reason with the lumberjacks by choosing the dialogue option _[Try to reason with the loggers] “Listen to me, guys…”_. This involves passing skill checks: [Knowledge (World) 22], [Diplomacy 22], or [Intimidate 22] (a [Lawful Neutral] action). You can attempt multiple checks if one fails.
  9. 9
After convincing the lumberjacks, negotiate with Melianse. You can try to intimidate her with an [Intimidate 25] check by saying _“Think of you situation, Melianse…”_ to make her free her captives.
  10. 10
Alternatively, ask Melianse how to restore the trees. She will ask for feather tokens, initiating the quest Feather Tokens.
  11. 11
    Obtain feather tokens:
  12. 12
Buy A Pouch of Feather Tokens from Bartholomew in the Lone House area (500 gold).
  13. 13
Buy A Pouch of Feather Tokens from The Old Beldame in the Swamp Witch’s Hut area (500 gold, may require completing Gnarled Branches).
  14. 14
Ask Tiressia (in the Swamp Witch’s Hut area) for feather tokens.
  15. 15
Convince Corax to get the tokens himself via a [Diplomacy 25] check.
  16. 16
Return to Melianse with the feather tokens.
  17. 17
If you give Melianse the tokens yourself, you receive 300 XP.
  18. 18
If you convinced Corax to send a lumberjack for the tokens, you receive 180 XP.
  19. 19
After giving Melianse the tokens, agree to be her friend (a [Chaotic Good] action) for an additional 45 XP and a Ring of Protection +2.
  20. 20
Talk to Corax to demand a reward of 45 XP and 400 gold.
Tips
  • Buying feather tokens from Bartholomew in the Lone House area is often the easiest and most accessible option.
  • The diplomatic approach, especially by obtaining feather tokens, offers the most rewards.
  • Befriending Melianse is a [Chaotic Good] action that grants an additional reward.
  • Greataxe +1 (from Corax, if chosen)
  • 300 XP or 180 XP (for giving Melianse feather tokens)
  • 45 XP + Ring of Protection +2 (for befriending Melianse)
  • 45 XP + 400 gold (for resolving the dispute with Corax)
