Sorrowflow: Kaessi

Visit Kaessi in Tuskdale. Learn about her magical bond with her sister, Kanerah, and their shared body.

Agree to help Kaessi find the Disk of the Eclipse in Sorrowflow, northeast of Tuskdale. Note that initial Knowledge (Arcana) 20 and Lore (Religion) 19 checks may unlock dialogue options and grant XP.

Travel to Sorrowflow using the following directions from your capital: Northeast, North, Northeast, Southeast (across Shrike River), East, Northeast, Northeast (along Shrike and Crooked Rivers), Northeast (across Crooked River), Northwest, West.

Upon entering Sorrowflow, speak with Kalikke. Choose to send away your other companions and ask "What's our plan?" to gain 90 Experience.

Level up Kalikke if necessary, noting her Kineticist abilities and the "burn" mechanic which inflicts temporary HP damage.

Head northeast then northwest to find and defeat a Ferocious Slurk.

Further southwest, defeat more Ferocious Slurks and a fire elemental trap containing three Medium Water Elementals. Extinguish the fires with Kalikke's Water Blast to gain their assistance in a future fight.

Loot the container to the southwest.

Head northwest over the ford and interact with the cliff face. Attempt an Athletics 12 check (or Athletics 18 if no rope is available) to climb.

Once atop the cliff, head northeast to a cave entrance behind a waterfall.

Inside the cave, defeat two groups of bugs: Giant Centipedes and a Tremendous Centipede in the first chamber, followed by more Giant Centipedes, two Giant Spitting Centipedes, and two Tremendous Centipedes in the western chamber.

Loot a corpse in the first chamber and a chest in the second chamber, which may contain a Wand of Fireball and Bracers of Armor +1.

In the southern end of the western chamber, use Athletics 24 to clear rubble. Save before attempting this check to avoid fatigue.

After leaving the cave, head southwest to find and defeat two Gargoyles. Note their Damage Reduction 10/magic.

Continue southwest to the ruined tower. After a cutscene, the Disk of the Eclipse will be revealed, guarded by a Gargoyle-like Treant.

Kalikke will transform into Kanerah. Choose your approach: fight directly, try to slip past, summon the freed Water Elementals, or retreat to level up Kanerah.

If summoning the Water Elementals, they will emerge from the southeast. Fighting alongside them while Kanerah chats results in the Treant starting with half HP.

Fight the Gargoyle-like Treant. Use Kanerah's Fire Blast and be wary of its Stunning Blow. Its Damage Reduction 5/Cold Iron and regeneration can be managed by Kanerah's attacks.

After defeating the Treant, loot the chests and corpse near the Disk of the Eclipse (containing an Amulet of Natural Armor +1).

Interact with the Disk of the Eclipse. Give it to Kaessi to keep her as a companion with her dual personalities, or keep it for yourself, causing her to leave permanently.

After Kaessi absorbs the disk, choose dialogue options. A Chaotic Good option can refine alignment. Confirm you want to keep Kaessi if applicable.

Exit Sorrowflow through the southeast.
