Talon Peak

Navigate Talon Peak in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. This guide covers the Spider Path, finding Skullcrusher, dealing with bandits, and defeating the Ancient Roc.

You’ll arrive along the southwestern corner of the map. Work your way up the narrow trail east, then northwest, killing Primal Giant Spiders and Spider Swarms. The narrow paths require attention to character positioning; an AC warrior with an elementally-enhanced weapon is recommended.

Pass through a cave and follow the linear trail to an area transition leading to the upper Talon Peak map. Continue killing any bugs and looting corpses, though nothing particularly valuable is found here.

Hit the first switch to progress.

Talon Peak - Skullcrusher

Upon arrival, head northwest to find stairs and a ruined tower. On the wall nearby, within the tower and down the stairs, you’ll find three suspicious bricks. Interact with them in the correct order: the brick on the northern wall first, then the one downstairs, then the one in the tower. An incorrect order results in a _thud!_, while the correct order yields a _click!_. After securing three _clicks!_, head east to some stairs and search the wall near them for a fourth brick. Activate it for a _click!_ and the nearby wall will descend. Loot the chest for the Skullcrusher, a Heavy Mace +2 with the “Heavy Blow” property. Then, head up the stairs to the east.

Talon Peak - Bandits

Upon entering the next room, you’ll overhear bandits. Succeed at three successive and progressively more difficult Stealth checks (17, 19, 21) for XP. The third success allows you to push a Bandit Alchemist to his doom, making the subsequent fight easier by preventing bomb attacks in the confined space. Regardless of stealth success, a fight is inevitable. Defeat the two or three bandits and loot them to find the Monster Casserole recipe.

Talon Peak - Ancient Roc

From the bandits, descend stairs to the northeast, then turn northwest. Stop on a platform with a gate to the northeast. A chest can be looted here. Continue northwest to find a massive nest.

Send a tank northwest towards the nest while keeping other characters back. As you approach the nest, an Ancient Roc will appear on the bridge. The Roc has around a +20 Attack Bonus. If you have characters who can reliably avoid being hit, they can move closer. The goal is to have the Roc target your tank, allowing less durable warriors to join the fray while archers and casters stay out of range. The Roc has decent Armor Class and high Hit Points but is otherwise not overly dangerous. Defeat it and loot the nest for various treasures, including a Roc Egg.
