Guide to finding and defeating the Dryad at the Oak-That-Strayed location in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Includes tips on loot and strategy.
Walkthrough
- 1From Oleg’s Trading Post, travel South, West, West, then Southwest.
- 2At the third empty node west of Oleg’s, save your game.
- 3Venture northwest from the save point. If lucky, the Oak-That-Strayed will appear north of your path.
- 4Enter the area and head north to find the Oak-That-Strayed.
- 5Engage the Dryad. Her first action is to cast Spike Stones, creating an area that requires a Reflex save (DC 20) to avoid damage.
- 6The Dryad will then cast Call Lightning on random party members.
- 7Focus your melee combatants on charging the Dryad to disrupt her spellcasting and minimize movement through the Spike Stones area. Removing armor can help characters reach her faster.
- 8Defeat the Dryad. Her Armor Class is not high, but she has Damage Reduction (DR 5/cold iron).
- 9After the Dryad is defeated, the Spike Stones spell persists for one hour per caster level. You can either wait for it to expire or move through it, risking damage and potential unconsciousness.
- 10Loot a stump near the oak tree for a Keen Sickle +1 and a Scroll of Freedom of Movement.
- 11On the northwestern edge of the area, find a pile of rocks hiding a Restovic Sorceress’s Discharged Staff.
- 12Heal your party and rest if necessary before proceeding.
Tips
- Charging the Dryad with all your warriors immediately has a high chance of success and may disrupt her casting.
- If you reach the Dryad before she casts spells, you might win an easy victory.
- Delaying the assault will result in a longer, more difficult battle due to her spells.
- The Keen Sickle +1 is a potent low-level light weapon. If it doesn't fit your party, it sells for 2,075 GP.
- The Restovic Sorceress’s Discharged Staff is part of the Restovic item set. Collect all items in the set for a significant reward.
