Discover the path to Riverine Rise in Pathfinder: Kingmaker, including routes from Old Mesa and Thorn Ford, and learn how to defeat the powerful Large Water Elemental.
Alright, so you've made it to the last area before the Stag Lord's Fort: the Riverine Rise. It's located east of the Stag Lord's Fort, and getting there involves a bit of back-and-forth, especially if you're coming from Thorn Ford. Don't worry, I'll walk you through the routes.
Getting to Riverine Rise from Old Mesa:
If you're coming from the Old Mesa area, here's the path you'll want to take:
- Head North (this gets you to an empty node just north of Old Mesa).
- Then go Northeast.
- Next, head Southeast, sticking close to the river.
- After that, head Southeast again, but this time you'll cross the river.
- Continue Southeast to reach an empty node south of Riverine Rise itself.
- Finally, go Northeast to arrive at Riverine Rise.
Getting to Riverine Rise from Thorn Ford:
If you're starting from Thorn Ford, the route is a bit different:
- First, head Southwest and cross the river.
- Then, go Southeast along the river.
- You'll do this Southeast path along the river a third time.
- Next, head Southeast and cross the river again.
- Continue Southeast to reach that same empty node south of Riverine Rise.
- And finally, go Northeast to get to Riverine Rise.
Exploring Riverine Rise:
Once you arrive, Riverine Rise isn't too complicated. Like Old Mesa, it's not packed with enemies, but there is one tough foe waiting for you: a Large Water Elemental. When you get there, follow the trail heading North, then go uphill to the Northeast. That's where you'll find the elemental.
Before you engage, make sure to buff up your tank and use your usual precautions. Lead with your tank to draw the elemental's attention. It has Damage Reduction (DR 5), which isn't too bad, and while its HP is high, its Armor Class and Attack bonus are pretty standard for your best fighters. Fighting it with your full party of six should make short work of it.
Looting After the Fight:
After you've defeated the Water Elemental, head Northwest. You'll find a corpse there. Searching it will get you two Potions of Restoration, Lesser and three Scrolls of Remove Blindness. Kind of a weird combo, but hey, free loot!
With that done, you're pretty much finished with this area. You can head back to Oleg's Trading Post, sell off whatever you've gathered, get some rest, and get ready to finally take on the Stag Lord's Fort.
Note for The Fangberry Cave Expedition: If you're doing the Fangberry Cave Expedition, the next area you'll explore after this is the Waterlogged Lowland.
