How to Beat King Zu in Nibel

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Standard Attacks
   King Zu uses various wind and fire-based attacks like Tornado, Whirlwind, Firestorm, and Tyrant's Twisters. It can also use Assault (unblockable dive) and Pinion Gale.
2. Phase 2: Zephyr Prison
   King Zu traps the player in a ring of fire. Touching the ring causes damage and knockback. Other attacks may occur while trapped.
3. Phase 3: Swan Song Charge
   King Zu begins charging its ultimate attack, Swan Song. Fiery whirlwinds appear randomly. The player must destroy King Zu's wings within a time limit to interrupt the attack and pressure the boss. Failure results in 9,999 damage.

Strategy:

• Focus on exploiting King Zu's weakness to Lightning. Use Lightning Materia, but note that Thunder alone will not pressure the boss.
• Prioritize interrupting Swan Song. Save ATB or use a Limit Break if necessary to destroy the wings before the attack executes.
• Be cautious of Zephyr Prison. While trapped, try to avoid contact with the fire ring. There is a brief window to avoid being trapped entirely.
• Dodge its other attacks like Tornado and Assault, which are relatively easy to avoid.
• Breaking the wings during Swan Song is the primary way to pressure King Zu.
