The Spice of Life Quest Guide

Start the quest by approaching Cissnei in her kitchen in Gongaga after completing "Teach Me, Great Warrior" in Chapter 9.

Aerith suggests following Melon, a dog, to find Torgan the produce peddler near the village entrance. Follow Melon uneventfully.

Receive vegetables from Torgan. He suggests using Magonga Mushrooms and salt for the soup.

Speak to Melon and tell him you're ready to find the salt deposits. Follow him, fighting fiends along the way. The third set of enemies includes a Gorgon Mane, which is weak to fire.

Melon will lead you to the rock salt deposits. Pick the brighter pink rock salt.

For the other two deposits, climb a series of nearby hills to reach a wooden bridge. Look nearby for the brighter pink salt deposits.

To find the Magonga Mushrooms, use your Chocobo to travel to Magon Hill, south of Gongaga. Fast travel to Gongaga, leave via the southern gate, and follow the path south, past the second gate. Cross the bridge beyond the arch where you found Sotetsu for the "Teach Me, Great Warrior" quest.

At Magon Hill, find the Chocobo mushroom and use it to start a treasure hunt. Hold up on the D-Pad to get a scent trail leading to the first Magonga Mushroom.

Engage in the mushroom plucking minigame. Test each section of the mushroom with the left analog stick, tugging the most pliable sections first and the least pliable last. The order changes each time. Hold L2 and R2 to pluck.

The first mushroom has three sections. Each subsequent mushroom has an additional section. Fight Gorgon Manes at the second and third mushroom locations.

After collecting all three mushrooms and three Rock Salts, return to Cissnei in Gongaga.
