Beginner Tips

Master final fantasy vii rebirth with beginner tips on party management, combat, and exploration. Learn about Synergy Skills and character abilities.

Party Tips:

• All characters gain XP and AP from combat, even if they are not in your active party. Ensure all characters have materia sockets filled to maximize AP gain.
• Inactive party members can cast healing spells outside of combat. Cure + Magnify spells benefit all characters, so use inactive members to conserve MP.
• You can create up to three party rosters in the Combat Settings menu and switch between them on the field by pressing the X button and R1/L1.
• Synergy Skills boost the ATB gauges of both participants and can be used to reach distant or aerial enemies.

Character Tips:

• Cloud’s Punisher Mode automatically blocks and parries melee attacks. Activate it when an enemy is about to land a melee attack to mitigate damage, counterattack, and build ATB.
• Barret is a great supplemental character. When another character is pressured or during free moments, switch to Barret, hold Square to unload a salvo, then use Overcharge. This fills his ATB gauge for damage (Maximum Fury), staggering (Focused Shot), or tanking (Steelskin).
• Aerith attacks and dodges slowly and is fragile. To make her more evasive, place an Arcane Ward and Radiant Ward on different ends of the battlefield. Aerith can teleport to existing wards by pressing the Triangle button, increasing her maneuverability.
• Characters like Cloud and Red XIII are good at blocking. A perfect block negates all damage, and even a poorly timed block mitigates damage and fills the ATB bar.
• Synergy Skills are powerful and charge the ATB gauges of all participating characters. Use them frequently.

Enemy and Boss Tips:

• Enemies tend to aggro the character you are controlling. Switch characters often, using slower characters for quick attacks before swapping again.
• Many bosses enter a dangerous second phase when their HP drops below 50%. Try to stagger them strategically to defeat them before they can recover.
• Always Assess enemies. This reveals weaknesses and provides hints on how to pressure them, often acting as a puzzle solution.
• Some flying enemies can be tricky. Aerith and Barret have ranged attacks, while characters like Cloud, Tifa, and Red XIII can use Synergy Skills like Bullet Batter, Soaring Flurry, or Heavenly Ascent to hit them.
• For Fiend Sighting encounters, you do not have to complete all objectives in a single fight. You can retry finished fights to focus on specific objectives, such as time limits or stagger requirements.

Exploration Tips:

• Replay Chadley’s VR tutorial battles, as characters have changed and Chadley often rewards materia.
• Shinra crates respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) if you save and load your game, allowing you to scrounge for drops if necessary.
• Craft early and often. Crafting increases your Craftsmanship XP, unlocking more craftable items. Potent consumables, like a Mist Hi-Potion that restores 700 HP to the entire party for 1 ATB segment with no MP cost, are very effective early on.
