Esoteric Secrets of the Elders Quest Guide

Start the Quest: Begin this quest in Chapter 11. Head to the Nibel Airstrip, follow the road east until you reach Gjallar Bridge. Instead of crossing, look for a smaller bridge southwest of it. Just south of this is Activation Intel 2: Gull Bridge Tower. Near this tower is a broken wooden bridge; cross it. Ignore the buildings and continue to the Chocobo Sage's Manor. Approach Billy to start the quest.

Gather Chocograss: Your first task is to gather Chocograss. These are found floating above bodies of water and require your Chocobo to collect. You need 30 Chocograss to progress, but there are 50 in total. Some are in the open, while others are in caves or tricky spots.

The Chocograss Reward: While only 30 Chocograss are needed for the quest, you can turn in more to the sage's assistant. Turning in 45 Chocograss will reward you with the Gjallarhorn weapon for Cait Sith.

Zoom de Chocobo Race: The final trial is a race against the Chocobo Sage. You must use Selena, the Nibel Chocobo. Pay attention to speed-boosting and speed-reducing panels, as well as moving blocks near the start. Near the end, use the elevated portions by hitting boost pads to skip parts of the track.

Quest Completion: Beat the Chocobo Sage in the race to earn the Chocobo Armband accessory, which boosts AP for equipped materia. After the race, you can speak to the Sage with any remaining questions to complete the quest.
