Learn how to start the 'How Words Won't Do?' quest in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth by escorting Salmon to Crow's Nest, including enemy encounters and strategies for Sandstorm Drakes.

Alright, so you want to get into Crow's Nest in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? It's a bit of an odd one, but don't worry, I'll walk you through it. Basically, you need someone to escort you there, and you'll find that person in Under Junon. Head down there, take care of the big ol' Terror of the Deep boss, and once the story stuff settles down, look for a woman named Rhonda. She'll ask you to deliver some money to her son in Crow's Nest. But here's the twist: instead of just carrying cash, you've gotta escort a dog named Salmon all the way there. Yep, this dog is your key to getting into the settlement!

Walkthrough
  1. 1
First things first, accept Rhonda's quest. Then, you'll need to meet up with Salmon just outside of Under Junon.
  2. 2
Get ready for a bit of a trek! You'll be walking (or riding, if you've got a chocobo handy) the whole way to Crow's Nest. Along the way, Barret will have a bit of a parenting moment, which is pretty entertaining. You'll also run into some monsters to keep things from getting too dull.
  3. 3
Keep an eye out for these enemies you might encounter in the Junon region:
    • Fleetwing x2
  4. 4
    Capparwire x2, Zemzelett x1
  5. 5
    Zemzelett x2
  6. 6
    Capparwire x3
  7. 7
    Sandstorm Drake x2
  8. 8
This is an escort quest, but don't stress too much. Salmon has a decent 2550 HP and usually stays out of trouble. As long as you're not super under-leveled or having a really rough time, Salmon should be fine. Just keep moving and defeat the enemies.
  9. 9
The main challenge comes at the end with two Sandstorm Drakes. They can take a beating and have a special move where they shoot out small tornadoes when hit. These tornadoes can inflict Petrify, which is a real pain if you don't have Cleansing Materia Lv2 or something similar. If you get Petrified, you'll either need to use Esuna or a Gold Needle, or just wait it out if you can avoid damage.
  10. 10
For fighting the Sandstorm Drakes, ranged attacks work well. Barret's standard and Overcharge attacks, and Cloud's blade beams and Bullet Batter are good options. They're also weak to wind damage, so if you have Elemental + Wind Materia linked, that'll speed things up.
  11. 11
Try to pressure one Drake by battering it with attacks from a safe distance (those tornadoes don't travel far). Once it's pressured, hit it with Focused Strike/Focused Shot to stagger it. They go down pretty quickly once staggered, so a strong attack like Braver should finish one off.
  12. 12
After you defeat the Sandstorm Drakes, the quest is pretty much done. Salmon only took about 94 damage the whole trip, so he's proven he can handle himself!
  13. 13
Once you arrive at Crow's Nest, a cutscene will play. Barret, being the dad he is, convinces the family there to accept the money.
  14. 14
After that, you're free to explore Crow's Nest! You can find more Queen's Blood players here if you want to climb the ranks, and there are also new Side Quests to pick up.
Tips
  • The Sandstorm Drakes' tornadoes can inflict Petrify. If you don't have a way to cure it, try to avoid getting hit by them.
  • Focus on one Sandstorm Drake at a time to stagger them more easily.
  • Ranged attacks and wind elemental attacks are effective against the Sandstorm Drakes.
  • Access to Crow's Nest, new Side Quests, and more Queen's Blood players.
