Red Dragon Boss Guide

Master the Red Dragon boss fight in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with our comprehensive guide. Learn its attacks, weaknesses, and strategies for both phases to emerge victorious.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: The Red Dragon uses basic fire attacks like Fire Pool, Tail Strike, Flame Shot, and Radial Flame. A key attack to watch for is Incendiary Breath, which tracks the player and can be avoided by hiding behind pillars. These pillars can also be used to pressure the boss if they are knocked down onto it.
2. Phase 2: Occurs around 50-60% HP. The Dragon enters a Smolder state, charges Crimson Breath, and begins flying. New attacks include Strafing Flame, Flaming Tail, Explosive Flame Shot, Wreath of Fire, and Linear Eruption. While flying, target its wings to make it fall and become pressured, or target its stomach to weaken Crimson Breath. Crimson Breath is an unblockable ultimate attack with three variants, with Crimson Breath III covering the entire arena.

Strategy:

• Utilize Ice magic (Blizzard and its stronger variants) to exploit the Red Dragon's weakness.
• In Phase 1, use the arena's pillars to block Incendiary Breath. Attacking heated pillars can cause them to fall, pressuring the Dragon. Be aware there are only four pillars.
• The Dragon's Head can also be targeted to pressure it, but this effect is short-lived compared to the pillar method.
• When the Dragon begins Phase 2 (around 50-60% HP), it will enter a Smolder state and start flying.
• While flying in Phase 2, target the Dragon's wings to force it to land and become pressured.
• Alternatively, target the Dragon's stomach while it's flying to weaken its Crimson Breath attack.
• Crimson Breath is the Dragon's ultimate attack and is unblockable. Crimson Breath III covers the entire arena. Pay attention to where the Dragon starts the attack on the ground to find a safe spot for variants I and II.
