Follow our detailed guide to complete the Promises to Keep quest in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Learn Gi Specter locations, Irasceros battle strategies, and quest rewards.
Walkthrough
- 1Begin the quest in Chapter 10 in the Cosmo Canyon Region. After completing the 'From Whence Life Flows' quest, return to Cosmo Canyon and speak with a guard by the initial bridge to accept the 'Promises to Keep' quest.
- 2Head north of Cosmo Canyon to find an abandoned truck left by the survey team. If you have Activation Intel 5: Spiritwastes Tower, it's southwest of that location.
- 3Upon approaching the truck, Gi Specters will appear and mistake Red XIII for his father, Seto. They will possess local fauna.
- 4The first set of enemies are Skeeskees. They are slightly stronger but have the same weaknesses and pressure conditions as usual.
- 5After defeating the Skeeskees, follow the Gi Specters to the next encounter.
- 6The second set of enemies are Desert Sahagins. Use Blizzard to pressure them.
- 7The third set consists of four Desert Sahagins. Defeat them.
- 8Heal your party and follow the Gi Specters again.
- 9You will face a new enemy, the Irasceros.
- 10Irasceros Battle: This enemy switches between immunity to physical and magical attacks. Ensure your party has a balanced damage output. Pressure the Irasceros by waiting for it to use its named moves. This pressure window is short.
- 11When the Irasceros's stagger gauge is nearly full, it will use 'Concentrate', draining its stagger gauge and making your normal attacks deal very little damage. It takes three strong attacks to break this move. Aerith's Arcane Ward can be useful here.
- 12The Irasceros is weak to lightning. Use Aerith's Arcane Ward and cast Thunder when it's in Concentrate to hit it twice, requiring only one more attack to break the move.
- 13If you stagger the Irasceros, unleash your most powerful abilities and Limit Breaks to defeat it.
- 14After winning the battle, a scene will play, and the quest will conclude.
Tips
- Maintain a balanced party composition to handle the Irasceros's alternating physical and magical immunities.
- Save ATB for when the Irasceros is about to use 'Concentrate' to break out of it quickly.
- Leverage Aerith's Arcane Ward and Thunder for exploiting the Irasceros's lightning weakness, especially during its Concentrate phase.
