Navigate the treacherous Ikebukuro Tunnel and reach Upper East Asakusa in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster. Learn about essential items and the White Rider boss fight.
Walkthrough
- 1From Ginza, Hijiri will inform you that the Manikins are in Asakusa and suggest traveling through a tunnel in East Ikebukuro.
- 2Head to East Ikebukuro and find the entrance to the Ikebukuro Tunnel.
- 3Before entering, visit the Junk Shop to buy Light Balls and Float Balls, as the tunnel is dark and has damaging trap floors.
- 4Enter the Ikebukuro Tunnel. The initial section is safe, but enemies will appear from B2 onwards.
- 5The tunnel is dark, significantly reducing visibility on the Auto Map. Use Light Balls to illuminate the path.
- 6A spirit near the tunnel entrance will suggest purchasing items for light.
- 7Head into the tunnel to the left of the spirit and use a Light Ball. You'll encounter an Oni who warns of four powerful Onis within the tunnel.
- 8To the left of this Oni, you can find a Save Room with an Amala Link, allowing you to return to previous areas and resupply.
- 9To proceed towards Asakusa without fully exploring the tunnel (which is recommended for later), follow this path: From the B2 Save Terminal, head left and down to B3. On B3, go straight, right, then straight to a ladder to B4. On B4, go straight, left, straight, then right to a ladder back to B3. In B3 again, take a U-shaped path to another ladder to B2.
- 10Back on B2, head down (or take the path to the one-way Save Terminal), then right. Follow the path to Kuramae Station.
- 11Exit Kuramae Station into the Vortex World. Asakusa will be to the north.
- 12Upon entering Asakusa, you'll find a Save Terminal, Cathedral of Shadows, Junk Shop, and Fountain of Life nearby.
- 13If you have met the conditions (Maniax/Chronicle version, completed First and Second Kalpas, approached the Four Horsemen), the Menorah of Sovereignty will react, and you will trigger a boss fight with the White Rider near the Save Terminal.
Tips
- Fully exploring Ikebukuro Tunnel is optional and can be challenging. It's advisable to return later with a stronger team.
- Light Balls are essential for navigating the dark sections of the Ikebukuro Tunnel.
- The White Rider boss fight is triggered by approaching a Save Terminal (except in Shinjuku, Mifunashiro, and the Labyrinth of Amala). You can choose to refuse the fight initially if your team is not ready (around Level 45+ recommended).
- White Rider summons two Virtues that can disrupt your strategy.
- White Rider uses Prominence (Fire damage), Dragon Eye, Dekaja, and God's Arrow (Light instant-kill).
- The Virtues use Mahama, Thunderclap (50% HP reduction), Rakunda, and Mediarama.
