Guide to navigating the Ikebukuro Tunnel and reaching Asakusa in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster. Learn about necessary items, map directions, and the White Rider boss fight.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
From Ginza, Hijiri directs you to Asakusa via a tunnel in East Ikebukuro.
  2. 2
Head to Higashi-Ikebukuro Station. Before entering the tunnel, visit the Junk Shop to buy Light Balls and Float Balls, as the tunnel is dark and has damaging trap floors.
  3. 3
Enter the Ikebukuro Tunnel. The initial section is safe, but enemies appear from B2 onwards.
  4. 4
Visibility is poor in dark areas; use Light Balls to illuminate your path.
  5. 5
Near the tunnel entrance on B2, an Oni warns of four powerful Onis within. A Save Room with an Amala Link is also located here.
  6. 6
To reach Asakusa efficiently: From the B2 Save Terminal, head left and down to B3.
  7. 7
On B3, proceed straight, right, then straight to find a ladder to B4.
  8. 8
In B4, go straight, left, straight, then right to find a ladder back up to B3.
  9. 9
Back on B3, take a U-shaped path to another ladder leading to B2.
  10. 10
On B2, head down (or towards the one-way Save Terminal), then right. Follow either the top or bottom path to reach Kuramae Station.
  11. 11
Exit Kuramae Station and proceed north into Asakusa.
Tips
  • Fully exploring the Ikebukuro Tunnel and fighting the four optional Onis is challenging and not required for story progression. You can return later.
  • Light Balls are essential for navigating the dark sections of the tunnel.
  • The Save Room in the tunnel provides an Amala Link, useful for returning to Ikebukuro to restock or heal.
  • Upon entering Asakusa, you'll find a Save Terminal, Cathedral of Shadows, Junk Shop, and Fountain of Life nearby.
  • If playing the Maniax/Chronicle version and having progressed through the First and Second Kalpas, entering Asakusa may trigger the Menorah of Sovereignty and a boss fight against White Rider. This fight can also be triggered at most other Save Terminals.
  • It is recommended to be around Level 45+ before confronting White Rider.
  • Access to Asakusa, a hub with essential facilities.
  • Optional: Defeating White Rider yields rewards and progresses the story (if applicable).
