Learn the best strategies to defeat the Gedo Spectre and its many forms in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster. Get ready for a tough fight!

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • 6 x GEDO SPECTRE: HP: 148, MP: 100. Immune to Hama, Curse, Mind, and Nerve. Strong to all magic. Skills: Death Touch, Agi, Gather, Jarei-Ugo.
  • GEDO SPECTRE (Big): HP: 550/260/120, MP: 300/250/150. Immune to Hama, Curse, Mind, and Nerve. Strong to all magic. Skills: Agi, Jarei Hoki.

Phases:

  1. Phase 1: The Mini-Spectres
As soon as the battle begins, the Gedo Spectre will summon a horde of smaller Spectres. You have a strict three rounds to defeat as many of these as you can. If you let them all fuse together, they'll create a massive, super-powered Gedo Spectre that can easily wipe out your party with its powerful strikes (over 50 HP damage per hit). Your goal here is to thin the herd. If you manage to kill at least half of the mini-Spectres, the resulting big Spectre will be significantly weaker, potentially even weaker than the original mini-Spectres. Killing just one or two will make the big Spectre tougher than the small ones, but still manageable.
  2. Phase 2: The Big Spectre
Once the mini-Spectres fuse (or what's left of them do), the large Gedo Spectre will appear. Your strategy here depends on how many mini-Spectres you managed to take down in Phase 1.

Strategy:

  • Preparation is Key: Before heading into the Amara Network where this fight takes place, make sure you have specific demons in your party. Chirei Kahaku, Gedo Slime, and Yoki Shikigami are highly recommended. Power them up so Kahaku has Raku-Kaja (increases defense), Slime has Battle Cry (decreases enemy attack), and Shikigami has Taru-Kaja (increases attack). Equip the Hero with the Shiranui weapon if possible.
  • Buff Up Early: When the battle starts, bring in Kahaku, Shikigami, and one other demon of your choice. For the first three rounds, focus entirely on buffing your party. Use Kahaku's Raku-Kaja and Shikigami's Taru-Kaja to boost your defenses and offense. This is crucial for surviving the initial onslaught and preparing for the big Spectre.
  • Dealing with the Big Spectre: After the Spectres fuse, swap out Shikigami for Gedo Slime. Have Slime use Battle Cry on the super-Spectre to lower its attack power. If your Hero also has Taru-nda (from Iyomante), using it now is also a good idea to further debuff the boss.
  • Focus Fire: Once buffed and debuffed, focus all your attacks on the big Gedo Spectre. Take down one at a time.
  • Maximizing EXP (High Risk, High Reward): If you're aiming to maximize your experience gain, you'll want to fight the full 6-spectre fusion. This means you'll need to defeat the big Spectre, which is a very challenging feat. The reward is more experience points than fighting weaker versions.
