Guide for Final Fantasy Tactics Part 9: Learn how to defeat Ewen and Genius Ed, including enemy strategies, law bonuses, and rewards for missions C3-06 and C3-11.

Alright, let's dive into Part 9 of our Final Fantasy Tactics adventure! We've got two tough missions ahead, so buckle up.

Mission: Defeat Ewen!

First up, we're heading into a battle where your objective is to defeat Ewen. The law for this fight forbids Ice-based attacks and abilities, so make sure your party isn't relying too heavily on that element. Ewen himself is a bit of a mystery, sporting an unobtainable class called Nightfall, which is an advanced Ninja class. Not ideal, but we can handle it.

He's not alone, either. You'll be facing a Ninja, an Assassin, a Sniper, and a Time Mage alongside him. To make things even tougher, the judge has been removed from this battle. This means no clan privileges and, crucially, no reviving fallen allies. This is a big problem, so play carefully!

You have a choice here: either take down Ewen directly or defeat all his allies first. Given how strong Ewen and his crew are, focusing all your firepower on Ewen is generally the smarter move, especially if your party isn't super high-leveled. However, if you're feeling confident and want the extra EXP and loot, taking out his entire team is also an option, but you still need to defeat Ewen to win.

Be warned, Ewen can hit incredibly hard, dealing up to 200+ damage to a high-level Seeq. If your Sniper has an Opportunity ability, it's incredibly satisfying to have them shoot Ewen in the back right after he takes out one of your teammates. Just try not to let him get too many free hits in!

After the Battle:

Once Ewen is down, head back to Graszton and chat with Cid. You'll then need to make your way to Moorabella. There, you'll get news that the Blimp is grounded, which sets us up for the next mission.

Mission C3-06 ~ Grounded!

This mission is a dispatch mission with a Rank of 21, a Fee of 400 Gil, and it won't cost you any days. Your objective is to defeat Genius Ed. The law here forbids Harming the Weak, meaning any actions that target a lower-level unit are forbidden. Pay close attention to unit levels!

The reward for this mission includes 4780 Gil, 2 Aqua Galacs, and 2 Red Geeps, along with 42 Clan Points. The destination is Moorabella, and you'll need 5 members. This mission cannot be canceled once accepted.

Genius Ed is a Sage, and he's brought a Time Mage, a Berserker, a Fusilier, and a White Mage with him. The key here is to prioritize your targets. You'll want to take down the Time Mage first to prevent your party from being slowed down. Then, focus on the White Mage to stop them from healing the enemy. The Fusilier can deal significant damage, so try to eliminate them when you have a clear shot. The Berserker is predictable; they tend to charge in, making them vulnerable to counter-attacks when they get close to your units. The Sage himself is relatively easy to defeat due to low resistance.

Remember the law: Harming the Weak. Ed is Level 25, and his allies are Level 24, 23, 22, and 21. As long as you don't attack units significantly lower than your own, you should be fine. It's also nice to have a Level 99 White Mage on your side for support!

This mission specifically requires you to defeat Ed, not just clear out all enemies. So, if you want to finish quickly, focus on Ed first.

After the Battle:

After defeating Genius Ed, Vaan and Penelo will join your clan (though not immediately). You'll need to spend 300 Gil to travel to Fluorgis. Upon arriving, Cid will officially join your clan. Welcome to the new continent! You'll also find that you can now recruit Grias into your clan and access many new jobs.

Mission C3-11 ~ Rumours Ahead

This mission is a bit of a mystery, with rumors of a treasure hoard. The management notes there's no evidence to support these claims, so it might be a bit of a wild goose chase, but it's part of the story progression.
