How to Find Materials to Upgrade Facilities in Three Hopes

After clearing a few Side Quests in Chapter 4, you will unlock the ability to expand facilities at the Base Camp. Speak to the Facilities Master to learn about this core progression mechanic. Expanding facilities grants access to new services and enhances existing ones, impacting gameplay aspects such as leveling costs, available classes, purchasable items, battalion effectiveness, character stats, and ease of acquiring gold and materials.

To upgrade facilities, you will need gold and Materials. Gold is obtained through battles, but Materials are trickier. Your initial supply of Materials is finite until Chapter 5. Once you unlock the Supply Master and the Supply Depot facility, your upgrade capabilities will increase. Higher-tier Materials, such as Quality Building Materials and Lavish Building Materials, are locked behind main quest progression.

How to Earn Materials from Surveying Spots:

While the Supply Master is a reliable long-term source, you can obtain bulk Materials by exploring Surveying Spots on the War Map. Complete Side Quest battles to conquer regions, then examine Surveying Spots within those regions. Benefits vary but can include significant amounts of Materials. Some Surveying Spots require additional objectives beyond conquest, such as achieving an S-Rank in the region's battle or getting enough KOs throughout the chapter.

The Supply Master:

Surveying Spots are finite. For a reliable, long-term source of Materials, use the Supply Master, unlocked in Chapter 5. Visit her at the Base Camp for options like “Deliver Equipment”, “Deliver Resources”, “Trade Smithing Stones”, and “Collect Supplies”.

Deliver Equipment:

Sell excess weaponry and accessories for a small amount of gold, or give them to the Supply Master for a small supply of Smithing Stones. Higher-quality items yield more Smithing Stones. This is a good way to clear out your armory.

Deliver Resources:

Similar to delivering equipment, you can exchange various resources, including excess Materials, food, and ore, for Smithing Stones.
