Before you even jump into a battle where you can recruit someone, you'll need to pick the right Strategy from the list. For Lysithea, you'll be looking for the 'Persuade Lysithea' Strategy. You can only use these Strategies if you've got enough Strategy Resources, which you earn by completing side quests before the main mission. So, make sure you're doing those side quests!

Now, here's the crucial part: when the character you want to recruit shows up on the battlefield, you absolutely must activate the 'Persuade' Strategy before you defeat them. If you accidentally knock them out before using the Strategy, they're gone for good – no second chances! Once you activate it, you'll see a purple glow around the area where the Strategy is active, usually where the character first appeared. Just make sure you defeat them within that glowing zone, and bam! They'll join your army after the battle.

Recruiting Lysithea in the Scarlet Blaze Route

Alright, for the Scarlet Blaze route, Lysithea shows up in Chapter 7. You'll need to use the Persuade Lysithea Strategy, which costs 10 Strategy Resources. Don't worry too much about having enough; if you've captured all the regions before starting the main quest, you should have around 50 Strategy Resources.

When the battle starts, your first objective is to capture two strongholds. Doing this will also help you recruit Raphael and Marianne if you use the right Strategies for them. Once that's done, the next main mission will have you capturing two more strongholds, one to the north and one to the east. Head for the eastern stronghold – that's where you'll find Lysithea. Activate the 'Persuade Lysithea' Strategy when it becomes available, and then defeat her in that purple-glowing area. Easy peasy!

Lysithea in Other Routes

Just a heads-up, you cannot recruit Lysithea in the Azure Gleam Route at all. So, if you're playing that route, you'll have to find her in a different playthrough.

If you're on the Golden Wildfire Route, you actually start with Lysithea already on your team if you chose the Golden Deer house at the beginning of the game. So, no recruitment needed there!
