Follow our step-by-step guide to conquer the East Wing in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, including puzzles, trainer battles, and the showdown with Maxie.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
In the first puzzle room, observe the sequence the four flower-shaped panels light up around a contraption. Step on the panels in the same order to proceed. There are three observed patterns, identifiable from the start.
  2. 2
If you fail, inspect the contraption again to restart. Succeeding activates the east teleporter.
  3. 3
In the next room, a similar puzzle awaits. A Grunt stands near the north but will not battle. A Full Heal is in the south-east corner.
  4. 4
Poke the contraption to reveal the panel sequence. Be mindful of the Grunt's distracting pose after stepping on the third panel.
  5. 5
The third and final memory game is past the teleporter. Grunts will interrupt for battles after you correctly step on the third and sixth panels. They won't fight again if you retry the puzzle but will still distract you.
  6. 6
After stepping on the eighth panel, teleporters to the north and east activate. The north teleporter leads to the endpoint.
  7. 7
The east teleporter leads to a small room with a Grunt. In the north-west corner, a Poké Ball contains a wild Electrode (Lv. 62), be wary of Explosion. In the south-east corner, find an X Attack.
  8. 8
Through a door guarded by Grunts, you'll find Maxie's office. A Full Restore is nearby.
  9. 9
Defeat Maxie and his Pokémon: Mightyena (Lv. 64), Crobat (Lv. 64), Weezing (Lv. 64), Camerupt (Lv. 64), and Groudon (Lv. 66).
  10. 10
After defeating Maxie, investigate the painting at the back of the room to find a hidden switch.
  11. 11
Pressing the switch activates a teleporter in the corner, allowing a quick return to the castle entrance. You will need to find a second switch elsewhere.
Tips
  • Maxie's Mightyena (Lv. 64) uses Crunch and elemental Fangs; Fighting and Fairy-types are effective.
  • Crobat (Lv. 64) is fast with STAB Air Slash and Sludge Bomb; Electric, Rock, or Ice-types are recommended.
  • Weezing (Lv. 64) has high Defense and Levitate; Psychic-types are recommended.
  • Camerupt (Lv. 64) is slow with good offensive stats; Water-types are ideal.
  • Groudon (Lv. 66) has Drought, boosting Fire moves and enabling Solar Beam. Counter its weather with Rain Dance or Drizzle, or use Water-types. Ultra Necrozma or Lunala are also good counters.
  • Be cautious of Electrode's Explosion if you attempt to capture it.
