Follow this Neverwinter walkthrough to complete the intertwined Belial's Tale and Eternal Night side quests, including gathering oaths and confronting Belial.
Walkthrough
- 1When you first enter Charwood Village, a man named Quint will approach you. Tell him to leave to acquire this quest.
- 2Go into Mayor Mobley's Office and speak with him. Ask if there's any trouble and persuade him for information.
- 3Head to the east side of the village and talk to the Castle Guard, who will open the gate to Jhareg Castle.
- 4Inside Jhareg Castle, open the Riddle Chest to find the Riddle Key and the Letter by a Strangehand.
- 5Choose any of the three doors (north for law, east for neutral, west for chaos). Each path contains another Letter by a Strangehand and leads to The Guardian.
- 6Speak with The Guardian, who will make you a Judge. You must investigate brothers Quint and Karlat Jahreg and return with their written oaths.
- 7Karlat's Tower:
- 8Enter Karlat's Tower and defeat Mephits and Red Slaads.
- 9In the first door on the right, open the red glowing chest for Karlat's Key and Karlat's Burning Wand.
- 10In the first room on the left, find Karlat's Wand of Protection in a chest.
- 11Locate the Summoning Tome below the wand's room. Interact with the candelabra and choose "continue reading" to acquire the Belial's Tale side quest.
- 12Explore Karlat's Chamber. In the south-west corner, find the Tome of Fire on a glowing bookshelf (required for the Five Tomes quest).
- 13At the end of the main corridor, defeat the Huge Fire Elemental.
- 14In the room the elemental was guarding, speak to Karlat, listen to his story, and ask for his oath to receive the Oath of Karlat Jhareg.
- 15Completing Belial's Tale:
- 16Go to Karlat's Summoning Chamber (below the Summoning Tome room).
- 17Place a Fire Beetle Belly into the brazier.
- 18Cast Protection from Evil on yourself using Karlat's Wand of Protection.
- 19Cast Burning Hands on the brazier using Karlat's Burning Wand to summon Belial.
- 20Speak to Belial. You can try to persuade him for a magic item (Staff of Power), a weapon of great power (Robe of Fire Resistance), some temporary magic power, or speak to him as the Judge to acquire Belial's Oath (not required for Eternal Night quest).
- 21Whichever dialogue option you choose completes the Belial's Tale side quest. There is no XP or gold reward for this specific side quest.
- 22Quint's Tower:
- 23Make your way to Quint's Tower, located across from Karlat's. Be prepared for tough enemies like Curst Warriors, Mohrgs, and Mummys.
- 24In the north-east corner, enter the Alchemical Lab and search the Alchemist Apparatus for the Letter to Quint and empty bottles (not required for the quest).
- 25In the room above the Shrine to Lathandar, find Quint's Key in a chest in a tiny room.
- 26On the west end of the map, in a room marked Bloodstained Book, find and open a red glowing chest to get the Tome of Death (for the Five Tomes quest).
- 27In a room in the south-west corridor, find Quint's Journal in a pile of books.
- 28In a room marked Bloodstained Book to the south, fight a Bodak, which has a dangerous insta-kill spell.
- 29In Quint's room, speak to Quint after defeating the Bodak, listen to his story, and ask for his oath to receive Quint's Oath.
- 30Save your game.
- 31Return to The Guardian with both oaths. You will preside over the trial as the Judge.
- 32Make your decisions during the trial. Belial's Oath can influence the outcome.
- 33You will receive 500 XP and zero gold, regardless of the verdict.
- 34After the trial, explore the village and castle to see the after-effects. If unsatisfied, reload your save and retrial.
