Learn how poison works in Neverwinter: ability damage in two stages, Fortitude saving throws, and how to cure it.

Poison afflicts your character by delivering ability damage in two stages. When initially struck, you make a Fortitude saving throw (a roll to resist negative effects) to resist the poison outright. If this roll fails, you take a specified amount of ability damage. After one minute has passed, you must make another Fortitude saving throw or take additional ability damage.

It is possible to remove poison before the second round of ability damage is delivered by using the Healing skill or the Neutralize Poison spell. However, any ability damage already suffered is not healed when the poison is cured.

The ability damage received from poison can be removed by resting or the successful use of a Healing Kit.

Tips
  • Always attempt the Fortitude saving throw when initially afflicted.
  • Consider using the Neutralize Poison spell or Healing skill if you have them available before the second damage instance.
  • Resting or using a Healing Kit is crucial to recover from ability damage after the poison is removed.
