Learn how diseases affect your character in Neverwinter, including Fortitude saving throws, incubation, and ability damage.

When you first encounter a disease in Neverwinter, you must make a Fortitude saving throw. If you succeed, the disease is resisted. If you fail, it begins to incubate. After a specified number of in-game hours or your next rest, the disease will manifest as ability damage (a reduction in your character's stats). Each time you rest after the incubation period, you must make another Fortitude saving throw to resist further ability score damage. If you successfully make two of these saving throws consecutively, the disease is removed.

Ability damage incurred from disease heals while resting. Certain diseases have special carrier-effects, such as blindness or other negative consequences, which can occur after the incubation period ends or after 24 game hours have passed.

Tips
  • Always attempt the Fortitude saving throw when encountering a new disease.
  • Resting is crucial for healing ability damage, but be aware it also triggers further saving throws against the disease.
  • Pay attention to any special carrier-effects mentioned, as they can introduce additional hazards.
