Begin your journey in Neverwinter by downloading the latest patch and familiarizing yourself with the Academy's training modules for combat, magic, and character abilities.

Before diving into the game, it is highly recommended to download the latest game patch. This will fix several bugs, particularly for multiplayer, ensuring a more pleasant and glitch-free experience. You can find the update option in the main menu under the 'UPDATE TILE'. The download is quick with a high-speed internet connection. If you lack internet access, you'll need to download the patch elsewhere (e.g., a friend's house or school) from www.neverwinternights.com and transfer it via CD/DVD/Floppies.

This guide focuses solely on acquiring and completing all quests in the game. It will not provide battle tactics, influence alignment-affecting decisions, offer character-building advice, or spoil your exploration experience. You are encouraged to explore the Forgotten Realms of Neverwinter as you wish. Be aware that 99.9% of traps are not mentioned in this guide, so adventure at your own risk.

The guide's formatting was chosen for convenience and ease of following, acknowledging the complexity of RPG guides. If the format is not to your liking, alternative walkthroughs are available.

NEVERWINTER ACADEMY

You begin the game in the Academy, where you will learn to fight, use magic, and acquire abilities for your chosen character class.

Academy Training:

  1. Open the treasure chest in your starting room for a random item. Most containers have randomly generated items.
  2. In the two rooms to the left, search the desk and armoire for more items.
  3. In the larger room, speak with Pavel. Your dialogue choices can affect your alignment; be mindful of this, especially if your character is alignment-dependent (e.g., a Paladin). Pavel will provide information about the plague and other topics.
  4. Speak with Bim, who offers a short tutorial on camera angles. It is advised to accept this tutorial.
  5. After Bim's tutorial, proceed through the door that opens behind him.
  6. Approach and speak with Olgerd. He offers a tutorial on bartering with vendors and other valuable game information. Upon completion, he will give you an armor item specific to your character class.
  7. Enter the Library through the door on the left and speak with Berna for a tutorial on your Journal and Map. Your Journal tracks all current and completed quests. Consult the latest journal entry for clues if you are stuck. It is recommended to keep the map on at all times for easier exploration.
  8. After speaking with Berna, your journal will update. Search the bookshelf and book pile for books; reading them provides a wealth of information. A complete list of in-game books can be found in the Items Section of this guide. Be aware that books are heavy and can impact your character's carrying capacity and movement speed.
  9. Proceed through the door past Berna to enter the combat training area.

Combat Training:

  1. Speak with Herban to learn about combat techniques.
  2. Approach Dendy, to Herban's left. Dendy will teach you about melee combat; pay close attention as melee is crucial for all character types.
  3. To complete the melee training, you must either hit Dendy or destroy the combat dummy.
  4. To Hewwet's right, behind the pillars, is Hewwet. Speak with him to learn how to use ranged weapons.
  5. Next to Hewwet is a weapon rack. Take a Heavy Crossbow, Sling, or Longbow, along with their respective ammunition.
  6. Equip a ranged weapon and shoot the target leaning against the far wall.
  7. Speak with Hewwet again to complete your combat training and update your journal.
