This is what lets you wear the bulkiest, most protective gear the game has to offer. What is it? This is a general feat, meaning you can pick it up every three level-ups. Think of it as unlocking a new tier of defensive gear. What do you need? Before you can get your hands on Heavy Armor Proficiency, you'll need to have already mastered the lighter stuff. That means you'll need both the Armor Proficiency (Light) and Armor Proficiency (Medium) feats first. What does it do? Simply put, this feat grants you the knowledge to effectively use heavy armor. Without it, those big plate suits are just decorative. How do you use it? It's automatic! Once you have the feat, you can equip heavy armor. No extra steps needed. Who gets it for free? Some classes are already pretty tough and get this feat automatically. If you're playing a Blackguard, Cleric, Dwarven Defender, Fighter, or Paladin, you won't need to spend a feat point on this one. Nice! Important Notes for Builders: * Adding this feat to an armor item itself won't do anything. The character needs to have the feat. Heavy armor that has this feat can only be worn by characters who also have the feat. * You can't wear medium or light armor at the same time as heavy armor, even if they have this feat. * Armor with a base AC (Armor Class) between 6 and 8 is considered heavy armor and requires this feat. If you want armor in that AC range without the feat requirement, you'll need to use item properties differently. Custom Content Notes: This feat can be removed and reused in custom content. However, the requirement for equipping heavy armor itself can't be removed. You can only reduce the AC of the armor to make it a lesser type. If this feat were completely removed from the game, equipping heavy armor would become impossible. So, if you're aiming for maximum defense, getting this feat is a must!
