Guide to Neverwinter's final main quest, The Final Battle. Learn how to navigate Castle Never, the War Zone, and Maugrim's Sanctuary to defeat the mystery cultist and end the siege.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
You start in Castle Never, alone (no henchmen, but familiars/animal companions are allowed). Use the Stone of Recall to return to the Halls of Justice if needed; Oleff can heal you.
  2. 2
Speak with Lord Nasher and Aarin to learn about the cultist and Maugrim's assault.
  3. 3
Go to the Castle Dungeon, speak with Haedraline in her cell to learn about the final Word of Power piece needed.
  4. 4
Return to Lord Nasher and Aarin, then leave Castle Never for the City Core.
  5. 5
In the City Core, visit the Trade of Blades and speak to Trancar for the 'Neverwinter Under Siege' side quest.
  6. 6
Go to the Moonstone Mask, speak with Luce for the 'Rescue Leesa' side quest. Ophala sells supplies. Visit Shining Knights Arms and Armor to buy equipment from Durga. You cannot access Marrok for magical equipment.
  7. 7
Head to the south-east corner of the City Core and enter the War Zone.
  8. 8
Speak to the Gate Guard. Ignore the Siege Golem; you cannot damage it. Kill the Luskan Frost Giants.
  9. 9
Immediately go to the house with the purple glowing door (House Entrance). Kill the Baalor Lord and Luskan Wizard controlling the Siege Golem. The Golem will disappear when the Wizard dies.
  10. 10
Search abandoned houses for Leesa (in the north-east corner if doing Luce's quest).
  11. 11
Locate three catapults near a large locked gate (by the house where you defeated the Baalor Lord and Wizard). Destroy the catapults by left-clicking them.
  12. 12
Enter the house above the catapults and speak to Asgard. He reveals a secret back door.
  13. 13
In the next room, interact with the bookshelf against the wall and choose the secret exit.
  14. 14
Defeat Frost Giants. You'll encounter another Siege Golem. Head to the house with the glowing purple door near the locked gate.
  15. 15
Kill the Baalor Lord and Luskan Wizard inside. The Siege Golem will deconstruct. Your journal should update for completing 'Neverwinter Siege' (520 XP).
  16. 16
Leave the house and enter the Strange Courtyard.
  17. 17
Enter the house above the courtyard. Kill Luskan Wizards and a Luskan Assassin.
  18. 18
Leave this house through the right door into the Strange Courtyard.
  19. 19
Kill the Half-Dragon Baalor. Be wary of its fire vortex and acid breath.
  20. 20
Step into the portal left by the Baalor to enter Maugrim's Sanctuary.
  21. 21
Leave the starting room to encounter the mystery cultist. You can attempt to talk them into surrendering, but a battle will ensue.
  22. 22
The cultist uses a deadly fire vortex insta-kill spell and a Clarity spell (making mind-affecting spells useless). They are otherwise mediocre.
  23. 23
When the cultist is 'Badly Wounded', they will speak again. They will insist on fighting to the death.
  24. 24
The second phase of the battle is slightly harder, with more offensive spells and self-healing, but still relatively easy.
  25. 25
After defeating the cultist, the chapter concludes.
Tips
  • Familiars and animal companions are allowed but often ineffective. Summon Creature VII, VIII, and IX spells are highly recommended.
  • Stock up on healing supplies and ensure your equipment is the best available before entering the War Zone.
  • The Siege Golems cannot be damaged; focus on the wizards controlling them.
  • The mystery cultist's fire vortex spell can be avoided if you know how.
  • Completion of the main quest 'The Final Battle'.
  • 520 XP for completing the 'Neverwinter Siege' side quest.
