Guide to defeating The Evil One in its two forms in Bravely Default's true ending. Learn boss stats, weaknesses, and strategies for both phases.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
The Evil One (larva) - Form 1
    • Stats / Weaknesses: Level 70, 150,000 HP, Weak to Fire, Bug
  2. 2
Abilities: Slaughter (high damage, Poison), Tight Bind (Stop), Spike Guard (barrier that counters physical attacks), Release (removes barrier), Poison Punisher (heavy damage to poisoned characters).
  3. 3
Strategy: Equip Stop Immunity (Time Mage) and Charm Immunity (Performer) or Lamia's Tiara. If you did the Normal Ending, equip a Ribbon. Use Utsusemi or Rampart to block Slaughter, or Default to mitigate damage. Use Esunaga for Poison. Default when Spike Guard is up to conserve BP. For offense, Vampire's Firestorm or Pirate's Amped Strike (with Swordmaster's Free Lunch) are effective. Bring the boss to critical HP (around 10%) to end the phase.
  4. 4
The Evil One (pupa) - Form 2
    • Stats / Weaknesses: Level 70, 99,999 HP, Weak to Fire, Bug
  5. 5
Abilities: Powerful magic attacks (Thundaga, Dark, Flare), Acedia (makes party weak to all elements), Luxuria (Charm).
  6. 6
Strategy: Initially, use Spiritmaster's Adaptation or Greater Spirit Ward. When Acedia is used, immediately use Greater Spirit Ward to reverse elemental weaknesses. Conserve BP for the Spiritmaster. Equip Charm Immunity. Use the same attacks as Form 1, but ensure MP is replenished (Turbo Ethers are recommended).
Tips
  • Conserve BP for your Spiritmaster in the second form to counter Acedia.
  • Ensure your party has Charm and Stop immunity.
  • Replenish MP before the second form if needed.
  • The battle ends prematurely when The Evil One reaches critical HP (about 10%).
