Learn how to beat Konoe Kikyo in Bravely Default! This guide covers her HP, weaknesses, and strategies for Shippujinrai and Utsusemi.

Phases:

1. Kikyo starts the fight and will likely use Shippujinrai immediately, potentially KO'ing your weaker party members.
2. She may Default to build BP, then unleash two Shippujinrai attacks in a single turn.
3. If an ally is at critical HP, it might be better to have them Default and prepare for resurrection, as Kikyo's next Shippujinrai could finish them off before you can heal.
4. Kikyo uses Utsusemi to evade a single physical attack with a 100% success rate. A normal attack will consume this evasion.
5. However, each time Kikyo evades an attack, she counters with Transience, so be prepared to take damage after using a normal attack to break her Utsusemi.

Strategy:

• Kikyo only uses physical attacks, so boosting your party's defense and applying defense buffs is highly recommended.
• For offense, consider abilities that deal damage reliably to minimize misses, like the Pirate's Double Damage or Valkyrie's Judgement. Alternatively, magic attacks can bypass Utsusemi entirely.
• If you're having trouble, a strong Knight with the Protect Ally ability can absorb Kikyo's single-target attacks, protecting your more fragile magic-users while they unleash their spells.
• Be mindful of her BP management; she often Defaults to set up powerful follow-up attacks.
• When she uses Utsusemi, use a single, basic attack to break it, but be ready to heal or defend against her Transience counter.
