Walkthrough

Start on the ice ring planet. Navigate the path, avoiding fireballs, to the underside where you'll find a crystalized Launch Star.

Follow the path to the Launch Star.

You will land on the ice-themed side of a new planet. Avoid the rolling Urchins and rising/lowering water. Use platforms to stay above the water. Ground pound a stone pillar to reveal a 1-Up Mushroom.

Head towards the wall with the downward arrow. On the floor next to the platform, find a wheel. Wait for the water to lower, then spin the wheel to create an opening to the lava-themed side.

In the lava area, lava levels will rise and fall. Wait for low lava levels to progress.

Follow the path and find Red Urchins. When lava levels are lowest, a wheel will appear. Spin it to lower a gate, granting access to the Fire Flower.

As Fire Mario, return to the ice area and head towards the arch with two torches. Light the torches to reveal a Launch Star.

You will land in an area with ice and lava platforms. An Ice Flower is available to cross lava. As Ice Mario, ice platforms will appear below you. On the first path, jump at the end to reach the platform above.

On the second path, use another Ice Flower. This path has moving platforms. At the end, jump to reach the first platform of the third path.

The third path has no Ice Flower. Quickly reach the Power Star before your Ice Mario abilities wear off. Platforms are conjoined by corners. On the last few platforms, you can ground pound to stop skating and walk the remaining steps to reach the Power Star.

Tips

Urchins on the ice side cannot be defeated and should be avoided.
As Ice Mario, you can skate on lava without taking damage.
On the final path, you can stop skating by ground pounding to walk the last few steps to the Power Star.
