Go On a Ghost Hunt

Ready to hunt some ghosts in Big Boo's Haunt? This guide walks you through finding and defeating the five Boos needed to reveal the Big Boo and snag that first star in Super Mario 3D All-Stars!

Alright, let's dive into Big Boo's Haunt in Super Mario 3D All-Stars! For the first star, we're going on a ghost hunt inside the mansion. When you start the level, you'll see the main entrance right in front of you. Head on through, and you'll find five doors on the first floor. Now, that very first door on the left? It's empty, so you can totally skip it for now. The other four doors, though? That's where our spooky targets are hiding!

Let's start by heading through the second door on the left. This room has some bookshelves, a table, and a couple of chairs. Be careful, though – those chairs will come to life and try to get you! Keep an eye out for a painting on the wall with a Boo covering its face. That's your clue! Once things calm down, turn your back to that painting. Two Boos should pop right out of it. A well-timed Ground Pound when you're not looking at them will do the trick. After you defeat a Boo, you'll get a little taunt from them. Once you've dealt with those two, head back to the main lobby and go through the next door on the right.

In this next room, you'll find a Mr. I and another Boo. After you've taken care of them, make your way to the rightmost room in the back of the main lobby. Cross the bridge – try not to fall, or you'll have to go all the way around to the elevator, which leads to a shack you could see from the start. On the other side of the bridge, you'll find and defeat another Boo. Once you get that fourth Boo, head through the door right next to it. This room has some tricky, thin ledges. The last Boo you need to defeat is hanging out in here. After you've taken down all five Boos, you'll see a special text box appear. Now, head back to the main lobby. You'll find a Big Boo waiting for you! Treat this bigger ghost the same way you handled the smaller ones, but remember, it takes three hits to defeat him. Once he's down, the star will appear on the second floor. Just walk over to the different-colored floor section, and the stairs will pop right up!
