Shoot to the Island in the Sky

Learn how to reach the floating island in Bob-Omb Battlefield and grab the star in Super Mario 3D All-Stars. We'll guide you through using the cannons!

Alright, for this star in Bob-Omb Battlefield, we're literally going to be flying! Your main goal is to reach that mysterious floating island way up in the sky. There's really only one way to get there, and it involves using those cannons scattered around the level.

First things first, when you start the stage and select this star, if you haven't already, go chat with the Bob-Omb Buddy chilling on that raised platform near where you begin. He's the key to unlocking the cannons, which you'll absolutely need.

There are five cannons in Bob-Omb Battlefield, and they're located in these spots:

• Right next to your starting position.
• Straight ahead from where you start, out in the open field before you get to Chain Chomp.
• In the open field after you cross the wooden bridge, past Chain Chomp.
• On a ledge just before you reach the spinning heart on the mountain.
• On the floating island itself (but you can't use this one to get there, obviously!).

Now, to actually make it to the floating island, only two of these cannons are really going to cut it: the second and the fourth ones on that list. Let's break 'em down:

• Using the Fourth Cannon: This one's pretty straightforward. When you hop in, aim for the tree on the island. It acts like a nice little safety net, making it harder to overshoot the island.
• Using the Second Cannon: This shot requires a bit more finesse. Once you're in the cannon, you should be able to see the very top of the tree on the island. Line up your reticle with the top of that tree. Now, here's the tricky part: move the reticle just a tiny bit higher, maybe about an inch above the tree's top.

If you've lined it up just right, you'll either smoothly land on the island or get a boost that sends you into the tree, letting you grab onto it. If you happen to hit the side of the island, no worries! Just try the cannon again and aim a little higher this time.

Once you've successfully landed on the floating island, look around for a yellow box. Give it a whack from below, and voilà! The Power Star will pop out, and you'll have yourself another collectible.
