Blast Away the Wall

Learn how to blast away the wall and reveal the hidden star in Super Mario 64's Whomp's Fortress with this quick guide for Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

Alright, for this star in Whomp's Fortress, we're gonna use the cannon to reveal something that's hiding in plain sight. If you haven't fired up the cannon before, no worries! Just head over to the watery area and make your way to the far side. You'll find the Bob-omb Buddy and the cannon waiting for you there.

Hop into the cannon. By default, it'll aim to the right of the big flagpole. Keep that in mind, but we're not aiming there. To the right of the flagpole, you'll see a rotating bridge and a Red Coin floating in the air. Now, look directly below that Red Coin, and a little to the right. You'll spot a sharp corner of the stage. That's our target!

You'll need to adjust your aim a bit higher than that default setting to hit this specific corner. When you fire the cannon and hit that spot just right, the corner of the stage will explode, revealing the star that was hidden behind it. Pretty neat, huh?

Once the wall is blasted away, just head up to where that rotating bridge is, and you can grab your star. Easy peasy!
