Walkthrough
  1. 1
Follow Sir Hans’ Company: Start the quest on horseback with Hans Capon to deliver a message to Sir Otto von Bergow. Respond to his questions, then encounter Captain Thomas. Henry must intervene to prevent conflict.
  2. 2
Dialogue Choices: You'll face three dialogue options for your role: "I’m a soldier and Lord Capon’s bodyguard", "I’m an adviser to a nobleman and an envoy", or "I’m the scout of our company". Choose based on your preferred playstyle. Following this, Captain Thomas will ask why he should trust you. Options include: "As envoys we’re offering an alliance", "Do we really look bandits to you", or "As soldiers, we can help you with the bandits". Select based on your highest stats for a higher chance of success.
  3. 3
Find Out From Sir Hans What the Plan is: After speaking with Captain Thomas, you'll camp for the night. Call Mutt over by holding the designated button (Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, X on PC).
  4. 4
Find Something to Eat for Mutt and Feed Him: Mutt will only quiet down when fed. Speak to Oats, who is overlooking the pot, about the last sausage. Oats will trade it for a lost ring. Find Tankard nearby and beat him at a game of dice to win the ring.
  5. 5
Get Kitted Out With Armour and a Sword and Talk to Sir Hans: Return the ring to Oats to get the sausage and feed Mutt. Equip the Training Sword from your inventory. Speak to Sir Hans to begin a duel and learn sword fighting basics: Chain Attacks, Blocking, Riposte, and Changing Attack Zones. Follow on-screen instructions and defeat Sir Hans. Afterwards, chat by the fire, then wash up. Sir Hans will notice women nearby; crouch (Right Stick on Console, C on PC) and follow him to a woman doing laundry.
  6. 6
Get Away with Sir Hans: Distract the woman by throwing a pebble in the opposite direction (R1/RB/G). Quickly move forward to trigger a cutscene. You and Henry are unarmed. Navigate the woods undetected. Head southeast, avoid a group of bandits by taking the left path, and distract a lone guard with a pebble. Wait for other guards to move away, then follow Hans uphill. Bandits will spot you; sprint north to a fork in the path. Take the left path through the rocks to find an escape point. You will duel a bandit. Avoid aggression; attack only after a successful block due to low health. A cutscene will play after defeating the bandit, leading into the next main quest, Fortuna.
