Follow this Kingdom Come: Deliverance II walkthrough to complete The Collector task. Learn how to find Matthew the Collector, defeat his gang, and retrieve the rare book for Bailiff Crux.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
To start The Collector task, travel to Miskowitz and speak with Bailiff Crux in the Blacksmith's house on the east side of town. Ask him about Matthew and why he's called a Collector. Inquire about his usual prowling spots to learn there's a bounty on him. Agree to help to begin the task.
  2. 2
Bailiff Crux will inform you that Matthew has a rare book you need to retrieve. Matthew patrols the road between Suchdol and your current location during the day, or can be found in a bandit camp in the eastern forest at night.
  3. 3
The easiest way to find Matthew is to Fast Travel between Wysoka and Opatowitz, as his gang will likely stop you on the road. Alternatively, you can ride this road yourself. If you ride too fast, you might miss the opportunity to talk to him. Fast Traveling may offer a chance to talk first.
  4. 4
If you are also working on The Devil's Pack main quest, you cannot convince Matthew to rejoin the Dry Devil's gang. You are free to engage him and his gang in combat.
  5. 5
When fighting Matthew's gang, use your companion Mutt and try to avoid being surrounded. Matthew has decent equipment, so it's advisable to leave him for last to avoid being targeted by his friends while you focus on him.
  6. 6
After defeating Matthew, loot his body to find the Rare book from Sedletz.
  7. 7
Study the book yourself to gain Scholarship XP before returning it to Bailiff Crux in Miskowitz to complete the task.
