Learn how to get the Woodland Wordsmith Tome in Dragon's Dogma 2. Find Sacred Arbor, gather flowers, and befriend the elven innkeeper Kough to translate Elvish.

To understand the Elvish language in Dragon's Dogma 2, you need a pawn with the Woodland Wordsmith specialization. This can be obtained by finding a pawn with the specialization or by acquiring the Woodland Wordsmith Tome to teach your own pawn.

How to Find Sacred Arbor:

Sacred Arbor is primarily reached via Glyndwr's questline, specifically "A Trial of Archery." Alternatively, it's located in the northwestern part of Vermund, west of Melve. The most accessible route involves roads northwest from Vernworth, leading near the Forgotten Tunnel, which is part of Glyndwr's "Gift of the Bow" quest. Glyndwr will translate Elvish for you while he is with you, but he leaves after his quests, necessitating a permanent translator.

How to Find a Pawn with Woodland Wordsmith Specialization:

Visit the Arborheart Riftstone in southeastern Sacred Arbor. Interact with the pawns that appear and look for the "Woodland Wordsmith" specialization. Some pawns may announce it, but not all. Pawns wandering Sacred Arbor can also have it. Unfortunately, there is no direct search function for specializations, so you'll need to speak with multiple pawns.

How to Get the Woodland Wordsmith Tome:

To teach your own pawn the Woodland Wordsmith specialization, you need to obtain the Woodland Wordsmith Tome from Kough, the elven innkeeper in Sacred Arbor. You won't understand her initially, but she is located on the ground floor of the inn, in a pavilion surrounded by columns.

Steps to Obtain the Tome:

1. Gather Flowers: Collect Sunbloom (yellow) flowers found outside The Arborheart and Moonglow (blue) flowers found on the road outside town.
2. Craft Bunches of Flowers: Combine one Sunbloom and one Moonglow to create a Bunch of Flowers.
3. Gift the Innkeeper: Initiate a conversation with Kough and use the gift option to give her a Bunch of Flowers.
4. Increase Affinity: Repeat the gifting process. It may take several gifts (around three to five) and potentially resting at her inn (3,000G per rest) to sufficiently raise her affection. Be cautious not to give too many flowers at once, as she may become less receptive. It could take 9,000G - 12,000G in total for rests.
5. Receive the Tome: Once Kough's affection is high enough, she will gift you the Woodland Wordsmith's Tome.

Using the Woodland Wordsmith Tome from your inventory will teach your main pawn the specialization, allowing you to understand Elvish.
